Tickets are $10 and go onsale "sometime at the beginning of October." They just confirmed the concert last week, so they're not sure when exactly yet. As of right now, it's only open to students, alums, and their guests, but since myself and about three other friends are dual-enrolled at the college, we can get tickets. Plus, my friend Teresa's dad is a prof there, so if anyone from the list desperately needs tickets, I'll probably be able to help ya there. Finally, AC is practically in my backyard, so if anyone needs directions, names of motels, good restaurants (hah!) I can be of service. :) Cheers! "Living Doll" was his first #1 U.K. hit, and was originally released in 1959 (it made it to #30 in the U.S.) In 1986 he re-released it as a comic collaboration with the U.K. TV stars from the Young Ones and it made it to #1 again. The reason it was a collaboration with the Young Ones was because Cliff had a #1 single in 1962 with a song called... "The Young Ones"... that the TV show got it's name from (satirically). If you haven't seen the Young Ones it is a classic mid 80's comedy show that had been shown on MTV, it is quite hysterical. They weekly had British new-wave bands as guests, including Madness and Bow Wow Wow. ---------- > From: mr.train@juno.com > To: tmbg-list@tmbg.org > Subject: TMBG: Living Doll > Date: Sunday, September 21, 1997 1:43 PM > > In my endless quest for mp3's (TMBG or Not) I ran across a request for > this song... > > Cliff Richard & The Young Ones : Living doll > > Now those who have the Frank O'Toole performance know that TMBG performed > a song by the same title... anyone ever hear of these artists or their > song before??? > > Miscellaneous Tim AKA TMB(do)G > AKA Tambo (IRC) AKA Mr.Train (OML) ------------------------------ Message-Id: <3.0.3.32.19970921171330.0082d390@pop.cwru.edu> Date: Sun, 21 Sep 1997 17:13:30 -0400 From: Jeff Roberts Subject: Re: TMBG: Living Doll At 04:43 PM 9/21/97 -0400, you wrote: >In my endless quest for mp3's (TMBG or Not) I ran across a request for >this song... > >Cliff Richard & The Young Ones : Living doll > >Now those who have the Frank O'Toole performance know that TMBG performed >a song by the same title... anyone ever hear of these artists or their >song before??? > > Miscellaneous Tim AKA TMB(do)G > AKA Tambo (IRC) AKA Mr.Train (OML) > > The Young Ones was a British television comedy in the early eighties featuring four college students, Neil the hippy, Rick the Socialist, Vyvyan the Punk, and Mike who was somewhat normal, living together and having a generally vulgar and hilarious time. They used to show reruns on Comedy Central and maybe they still do. As I have gleamed from the show, Cliff Richards was apparently a major singing personality in the UK at that time somewhat like Michael Jackson was in the States. I've never heard the particular song in question but as a Young Ones fan I'd be interesting in knowing where you found it. I've got no idea as to if the song TMBG did is the same or not. It's the best player there is and best of all its free (well its shareware but you can download it free and its not crippled in anyway, no nag screens no or anything like that) I dont remember the direct URL for the winAMP page but check out http://pants.netvirtual.com/mp3.html for links to all sorts of MP3 goodies including winamp.
