If anyone remembers a few months ago, when myself and Bongo had a little scuffle that dragged itself out over a week or so...well, it wasn't pretty. And, oddly enough, everyone else on this list is already defending our individual right to clog people's e-mail boxes with crap, if need be. So all I have to say on that subject is: learn to love your delete key. Once you do, this list is a very nice place to stay. Oh...I can't for the life of me remember who asked why Converses are called "Chucks," but I have an answer, sorta. I believe one of the past owners of Converse, or maybe a friend, named Chuck Taylor, had that specific kind of shoe named after him. Not sure why, but that's that. Oh, and hey...anyone see the Soul Coughing video on 120 Minutes? Kind of disappointing for me, personally, but I did learn that the guy I always thought was the singer is, in actuality, not. Go figure. Oh, and the new Promise Ring song ("Tell Everyone We're Dead") is great. Give it a listen. That's it from me. TMBG will be playing two dates in London in January 1999 (presumably to tie in with the release of Dr Worm as a single. The date are: MONDAY 18 JANUARY SATURDAY 23 JANUARY Venue : The Garage, 20 Highbury Corner London N5 (opposite the tube) Tickets: #9 from them (0171 607 1818) or available from Ticketmaster 0171 344 0044 (at more than #9 I'm sure) ON SALE NOW!!!!! Very few seats at the Garage - standing only. This information came from The Garage who were very helpful. They are part of the 'Mean Fiddler' empire. I asked if they are promoting any more TMBG concerts but they aren't so my guess is that they will be heading for Europe between 19th and 22nd to play some gigs there. However I will chase the record company to find out if they know anything. London N5 is Islington which has lots of bars and restaurants so I suggest that if others on the list are going we arrange to meet up before hand. I will have a look round to see what looks good. Needless to say I will be going to both concerts but the thought of travelling to Europe in January in mid-week sounds.........mmmmm! Any of you living in the States or Canada going to be in Europe late January? Good excuse to use up those air-miles! TMBG in the UK. Brilliant news. Still can't believe it. I used to wear them too, until I figured that being able to draw on your shoes with a ball-point pen is of limited entertainment value. Especially compared with the need to have shoes I could rely on not to rip and fall apart at inoppertune times.
