Oh, and does *anyone* have a live copy of "Sensurround?" yes. they played it on 12/31/95 (fair quality, old style), 3/31/96 (excellent quality, old style), 6/7/96 and 12/12/96 (both new style, and not great quality) > For that matter, is the MMPR soundtrack version different from the SEXXY > version? (aside from one being the ONLY good song on said album?) the only difference is that the bridge in the S-E-X-X-Y version is all synth... the bridge in the MMPR version is piano and a bunch of "ba's," which are equal in number to the number of nonsense syllables in each bar of Exquisite Dead Guy, only with a different rhythm. :) Lawrence Solomon http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~lps/ lps@andrew.cmu.edu "You keep handing out horseshoes * This space inadvertently Horseshoes have gotta be tossed." -Moxy Fruvous * left with stuff in it. ------------------------------ From: GoodOmenz@aol.com Message-ID: <49e4de66.36659fe9@aol.com> Date: Wed, 2 Dec 1998 15:15:37 EST Subject: TMBG: Re: New Year's Show >Do you know if there will be an opening band? the better-than-some-other-openers [doubledong] rock of Mr. Carmaig de Forest for both sets. dig the ukulele i saw skeleton key a few hours after i got my wisdom teeth out, now THAT was a show.... they played Palindrome on the STD tour... a rockin' new double guitar arrangement that turned it into this crazy power pop song, it was really great. didnt they used to play sensurround all the time? In the last TMBG newsletter I received (which was several months ago, I have yet to receive the Christmas one, or even a Christmas catalog; is anybody else in this predicament?), one of the Johns (I think it was Flansburgh) said a new video should be coming out soon that would include the music videos from the Elektra years. That was months ago, and I have heard nothing about it since. Does anyone know what happened? Also, is there any chance the original video (the one with the songs from the eponymous album and Lincoln) will come back in print again? And is there any chance the long-awaited Miscellaneous T-like collection of Elektra B-Sides will come out of limbo? I recently listed the rare Mono Puff CD >Single, >"The Devil Went Down to Newport" on eBay Rare? hmph... it was at my local tower records about two weeks ago... kids, ebay is a nice place to jip people off (i'm not saying that this person is deliberately trying to) just do a little research before you go and buy something there at some outrageous price that might be sitting next door, brand new in some department store for half as much. now, perhaps the tower records i have referred to is just detarded. They sold copies of the Istanbul and I Palindrome I EP's through the summer of '96. Last time i was there they were selling Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy" single which "hasn't been available" for the past 3 months or so. Definitely. I check eBay pretty frequently for auctions involving my favorite artists, and it's disturbing to see CDs that are pretty easy to find going for several times the going value. Great for sellers, but not for naive fans. Rule of thumb -- always check http://gemm.com/ for a CD before getting involved in an eBay auction. GEMM searches the databases of _many_ different on-line store for you, and even points out which stores have the best prices on the material you're looking for. -Adam -- /=---------------- http://www.he-man.org/ctyner/ ----------------=\ http://www.crystal-night.com/~ctyner/tuscadero.html http://www.awod.com/gallery/rwav/ctyner/ He-Man, Tuscadero, "Weird Al", Yoo-hoo, Killer Tomatoes, & more! ------------------------------ End of tmbg-list Digest #13-3 *****************************
