Keep in mind that this was written about 10 years ago, and has to do with a new game project that coincidentally is comming out right now, and had comercialism a year ago. I hope you find it as intersting as I do. Taken from Life, The Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams... "Many speak of the legendary and gigantic starship Titanic, a majestic and luxurious cruise liner launched from the great shipbuilding asteroid complexes of Artifactoval some hundreds of years ago now, and with good reason. It was sensationally beautiful, staggeringly huge and more pleasantly equipped than any ship in what now remains of history (see page 110 [on the Campaign for Real Time]) but it had the misfortune to be built in the very earliest days of Improbability Physics, long before this difficult and cussed branch of knowledge was fully, or at all, understood. The designers and engineers decided, in their innocence, to build a prototype Improbability Feild into it, which was meant, supposedly, to ensure that it was Infinitely Improbable that anything would ever go wrong with any part of the ship. They did not realize that because of the quasi-reciprocal and circular nature of all Improbability calculations, anything that was Infinitley Improbable was actually very likely to happen almost immediately. The starship Titanic was a monstrously pretty sight as it lay beached like a silver Arcturan Megavoidwhale among the laser-lit tracery of its construction gantries, a brilliant cloud of pins and needles of light against the deep interstellar blackness; but when launched, it did not even manage to complete its very first radio message--an SOS--before undergoing a sudden and gratuitous total existence failure. However, the same event that saw the disatrous failure of one science in its infancy also witnessed the aptheosis of another. It was conclusively proved that more people watched the Tri-D television coverage of the launch than actually existed at the time, and this has now been recognized as the greatest acheivment ever in the science of audience research." and in case you didn't see my question earlier, here it is again, which TMBG songs can rlate to any part in the Hitchhiker's series? For me, the song Mr. Me reminded me of Zaphod Beeblebrox as he rode his presidential sppedboat on the planet Damogran, just before he stole the Heart of Gold. And Chris, what response do you have as for the first video Flans directed and the touring question. I mean, perhaps he forgot about the other videos, no one ever heard that The Guitar song anyway. Also, to WAXPHANTOM, it has been said before, and much better than I will say it right now, that such a quiz would be impossible to make. Why? Well, you'd ask questions. What questions? Well, questions based on info you've accumulated via the net and other TMBG contacts. And of course, all that info has been distrubuted, and therefore, if one person on the internet could write the questions, and person on the internet could answer the questions. My best friend Jim, It seems that you did not see LA Confidential this past year. I too believe that Titanic is an excellent movie epic with all the elements to make it live on in Hollywood infamy - historical significance, adventure, tragedy, love story, honest noncomplicated hero and heroine, and most importantly sex (actually more importantly, Kate Winslet's unclothed body). Yep, that is why Titanic has beaten out Star Wars as the top grossing movie of all time. If Princess Leia had just let Han Solo make a portrait of her in the nude, we would not be at this terrible crossroad of movie history. But alas, if you had seen LA Confidential you would easily understand why that movie deserved 'best picture' over Jim Cameron's epic and 10 second moment of silence acceptance speech followed by "LET'S PARTY!" -jim "Who tried to reach you from 9:12 PM to 1:45 AM last night" ps jim Did you get my sestina? L.A. Confidential was ten times better than Titanic (not that I saw it, I wouldn't see it for a thousand bucks), The Full Monty was almost as good as L.A. Confidential, and so were Good Will Hunting and As Good As it Gets. as for best song, what the hell is up with that? sorry to say it, but out of the extremely weak best song category, Anastasia was the best. And art direction, all that they did was recreate a boat that they already had the bluepints for! in Kundun, they recreated the whole forbidden city. You are in no position to condemn a film that you have not even seen. As well, there were three ships built, one of which was Titanic, and all three did sink. The third ship was the one carrying medical supplies but it was also carrying a medical crew - fortunately it was on its way to picking up wounded soldiers at the time that it sunk, and was not filled with soldiers as it would have been mere hours later. It was not on its first voyage however, it had already served very well numerous times but was unfortunate enough on its last voyage to hit a mine and explode. What makes this ship of real interest however is not only that it was a ship of equal extravagance to Titanic, filled not with rich passengers but co-opted by the Red Cross before it ever transported a paying customer within its opulent walls, but that its wreck has not been looted like that of Titanic's and as such remains today an untouched "natural museum". In closing, if you are not going to see the movie, don't talk about it, and if you are going to subject us to useless historical facts, get them right. I'm just getting tired of hearing people who have not seen the movie slag it off - if you saw it and did not like it, fair enough, otherwise, keep your fool mouth shut. Besides, where did the idea that this movie is nothing more than a transparent commercial manipulation come from? It's as if people forget that James Cameron made six films before Titanic, and enjoyed considerable success, yet bet the farm on this movie because he believed in it enough to put his ass on the line. By the way, before Titanic sank, there was to be a fourth ship built called "Gigantic", but, for obvious reasons, this idea was scrapped.
