This isn't a professional thing where people get together in professional studios to make 24+ track recordings that are gonna be pressed enmass and released into mainstream music stores. These are fans covering a band they know and love and feel deserve their tribute. The way it is being distributed makes perfect sense to me (except for the high cost of the DAT and CD media which can be gotten for under $2 usually). It is a standard tape-trading means of distribution. That's how live show tapes get dispersed amongst the masses as well and many many people have live show tapes and people who try really hard have many many live show tapes most likely all gotten through this same means. I'd probably get a DAT copy, but I don't wanna $10 for a DAT =) - Chad "What would happen if God and Leffel had children?" Which is not much: Mike Leffel was an active listie. He had a good sense of humor and was generally well liked on the list. He was definately a daily poster. Well one day he stopped posting with no explanation. He was gone a long time and everyone was like "Where did mike go?" As it turned out, he had gone into a diabetic coma and had been sick in the hospital for a long while. After a time he came back to the list but never with the same enthusiasum as before. and about a month after the second coming it was rumored that his computer crashed and he would be back... I have not heard anything since and hope he has not become sick again. oh and he always signed with a funny middle name that summed up what his post was about. Common complaints have been that they take a looooong time to get orders out, some items are temporarily out of stock, and the shot glasses are often broken. Well, today I was surprised to see that my order arrived and it only took about 5 weeks. I ordered the two Linnell Hello CD's, The Xmas 45, and two mugs. All were in good condition. (They were encased in styrofoam squiggles within a LARGE box.) I heeded the advice of listees who recommend that I send a money order instead of a check. Maybe that helped. Maybe I just got lucky that all my stuff was in stock. ALSO: I think a few mentions of BNL are okay. For some reason, LOTS of TMBG fans are interested in them. So it's a nice thing to mention their new CD to others and to say if its worthwhile. However, there's no need to start posting BNL tour dates here. I can see where you might want to hear what other TMBG fans think about BNL but I can't imagine why we need to discuss FCC laws with other fans. OH, ONE MORE THING: I've seen a couple people saying that "Back to Skull" is out of print. Is this conclusion being reached because: a) You don't see it on the shelves at stores. b) Its not in the TMBG mail order catalog or web site. c) You have tried to special order it from a music store or Net music store and they tell you its out of print. You should try all three. If no luck, don't give up. Even if they have stopped manufacturing the CD, there ARE new copies of it on music store shelves. I've seen some about a month ago. -B O N G O ------------------------------ From: Monotreme3@aol.com Message-ID: <576028b9.35a6e593@aol.com> Date: Sat, 11 Jul 1998 00:09:54 EDT Subject: Re: TMBG: Mail Order TMBG + Other Stuff In a message dated 7/10/98 11:43:21 PM Eastern Daylight Time, ggr@pacificnet.net writes: > OH, ONE MORE THING: I've seen a couple people saying that > "Back to Skull" is out of print.
