Hey, I have updated my page with new MP3s. It's the entire 10/16/98 Tower Records in-store performance from New York City. John Flansburgh was not there, presumably resting up for the show at the Bowery that night. Dan Hickey was also abset. The lack of guitar and drums make for some interesting renditions of the following songs: They Got Lost, Whistling In the Dark, Your Own Worst Enemy, Particle Man, Mammal, Frankenstein (a must hear!), I Am Not Your Broom, Birdhouse In Your Soul, A Self Called Nowhere and Dr. Worm. I have also included a bonus song from another show that is very, very rarely played. Come to my sounds page to find out which song it is! :) -Mike PS Please sign my guestbook! http://www.cybercomm.net/~tdk/tmbg.html http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/tdkstheymightbegiantsclub JOIN MY CLUB! :) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <000e01be9baa$b47d9ff0$1df1c4cc@ois-010783.DOA.STATE.LA.US> From: "John Voorhees" Subject: TMBG: Re: tmbg-list Digest #17-11 Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 07:35:07 -0500 >Okay....here we go... the most creative They Might Be Giant is who? CONSTANTINOPLE DAY Actually, there are two reasons why this is "Constantinople Day"! The first is that it's the anniversary of the city's founding, way, way back in the year 330. The other - and more important - is that it's the date when, in the year 369, the first Christian Hospital was founded by Helena, the mother of the Emperor Constantine. Hmmm...what's that I spot under the bridge? Yup...it's a TROLL! Are you just trying to start a flame war on purpose? Seriously, though, I think both of them have creativity in their own ways. I know what I prefer, but I also know my personal preference doesn't indicate any empirical greatness. I imagine that any argument one side or the other would boil down to personal preference. Well, I haven't heard TDK's new mp3 of it, but this song did appear on the bootleg Dr. Spock's Back-up Band, which is really good quality. You can download the mp3 of it at www.tmbg.net under the irc section, in fun stuff. -Jay ------------------------------ Message-ID: <0rC6OJy00UwC0VmXk0@andrew.cmu.edu> Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 13:19:17 -0400 (EDT) From: Lawrence P Solomon Subject: Re: TMBG: Frankenstien Excerpts from internet.music.tmbg: 11-May-99 TMBG: Frankenstien by superman75@juno.com > did they ever do a studio version of this or does nayone know of a really > good bootleg/mp3 of it? there's a really nifty version (mp3) somewhere on tmbg.net from Dr. Spock's Backup band. as far as I know, they never actually made a studio recording of it.
