John Conant Flansburgh, born May 6, 1960, Boston, Mass. << Reservoir Dogs >> I finally got to view this today. I thought it was very good, but I still personally like Pulp Fiction better. And I may have not been paying particularly good attention at the end of the film, but are we to assume that Steve Buscemi's character dies in this film, along with all his "cohorts?" It was funny, I found myself experiencing deja vu with the cop torture scene...either I've seen that part of the movie before, or I've seen a scene like that in a different movie. Oh, and I love Tim Roth. Period. Doesn't matter what character he's playing. <> Another good one that I forgot...probably one of my top fave comedies. When "The Dude's" car smashed up onto the dumpster, my friend and I thought we'd die laughing :-) I started calling my ferret a "marmot" after I saw this film :-) Other films I saw in the past couple of days: Blade Runner -- The Director's Cut: Liked the landscapes and future-world details better than the plot. Elizabeth-- I thought it was pretty good, but I thought too much poetic license was used in this film. My husband thought it "sucked" because he "kept waiting for Elizabeth to get tough, and she really didn't." I said to him that it was about her younger years, and that she may have gotten a lot tougher through royal experience (like she is in Shakespeare in Love). Gods and Monsters -- Barry and I enjoyed this tale more than any of the others we saw this week. We thought the three lead characters were very interesting and well-rounded here -- you got to see their strengths as well as their weaknesses. The plot took some risks, which is another thing I like to see in a film. What did everyone think of it who went? I thought it was pretty good, and they played a lot of new stuff and stuff I've never heard them play before. However, they didn't seem to have the excitement level that they've had at other shows I've seen. Also a lot of things were downright sloppy. Me and my friends were joking that they were all stoned or something, especially with they way Linnell stumbled onto the stage at the beginning. But maybe it's just us.
