I brought in my guitar this week and played James K Polk for my old teachers class because I played it for my class last year and he liked it so much he asked me to come sing/play it for his class this year. -Amber the Transcendent ------------------------------ Message-ID: <19991111180000.40265.qmail@hotmail.com> From: "Amy Greenlese" Subject: TMBG: Two oh nos! Date: Thu, 11 Nov 1999 12:59:59 EST Bad things are afoot: First of all, TMBG have fallen to #4 in the Greatest Men In Music poll, now behind Trent Reznor, Tony Orlando, and Rick Springfield! Get there and vote already: http://www.freevote.com/booth/ltimeninrock Secondly, remember that poll for Entertainment Weekly's 100 Greatest Entertainers of the last 50 years that TMBG was in? Well, I got my issue of EW last weekend and TMBG didn't make it into the top ten. :( I am happy, however, that Kevin Smith was the #1 director according to the online poll. Does anyone know how the band is thought of in the community, do they consider them "celeb's" or if they're just kinda-"oh yeah, they must be ginats...they're form around here..." Have they ever played a show in their hometown, like a benefit concert or something? Second, does anyone know if Dave Letterman is a tmbg fan or if he likes them? from the live performances i've seen and heard that tmbg played on his show, he always seems genuinely excited about them. ------------------------------ Message-ID: <19991111220535.55353.qmail@hotmail.com> From: "Keem Bearlee" Subject: TMBG: john henry font Date: Thu, 11 Nov 1999 14:05:35 PST http://www.sentex.net/~jmartz/attack/f-meet.html it's nice so are the other fonts on the page http://www.sentex.net/~jmartz/attack/ enjoy! -kimberly ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 1999 22:31:19 GMT From: crow9864@mindspring.com (Kevin Sullivan) Message-ID: <382b4386.17019491@news.mindspring.com> Organization: Mindspring Subject: TMBG: Re: Montana 12" I don't think it's been released yet...I ordered some from CDNow a while back and it hasn't been shipped yet... I think taht was also the first time they played "lullaby to nightmares" (could be off my rocker however). Up until just the other day, I had never had one and felt all out of the loop. But I finally had a dream, so I've just got to share it with you all. So here's my dream. I was at a TMBG concert, but rather than being in a gym or open floor type setting, it was in an auditorium and the stage was really low to the ground. Like only 2 feet high. I was sitting right in the front row, on the end, only about 3 feet from the stage. I think the concert was over and I was sitting, legs crossed, waiting for everyone to leave when Linnell walked by. But, he was wearing really baggy, crushed velvet pants (I don't know...I have weird dreams) and his pants caught my shoe. He turned around to see what he was caught on but he didn't look like Linnell. He looked old. REAL old. Then somehow we got talking about playing bari sax (I play the bari also) I couldn't get over what he looked like, but I didn't care, he was talking to me. Can't have my cake and eat it too. There we go. I'm not out of loop anymore. Not that anyone actually read this. But I feel much better. I was in a parking lot, doing something (these dreams drift away fast) when a big white van pulled up with you-know-who inside. I went up to them and introduced myself, and I had so many questions to ask, but I couldn't think of any at the moment. The first that came to my mind was "How do you guys do that amazing harmony in "Exquisite Dead Guy?" They didn't answer, they just plunged right into it: "Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baa.." and drove away. Pretty abstract huh? On a lighter note, I finally got ahold of some money and purchased State Songs today. I must say, it is very impressive. It's not too much like TMBG, and it's nothing like Mono Puff (which makes sense). It's the kind of stuff that you're going to have in your head all day, but you don't mind. My favorites (in the order that they are on the CD) are: The Songs of the 50 States West Virginia Idaho Montana Pennsylvania Iowa Oregon Michigan Also, can someone tell me what Nevada is all about?
