Date: Mon, 22 May 2000 13:17:21 PDT Someone emailed the list the other day. The text of the mail was as follows: "If there's a Mike Hooker on this list, could you please contact me at mrbean43@aol.com. We had set up a trade last month (You were giving me 4/17/00 Bowery show and I was giving you 10-21-99 Bowery THEN show) and we agreed to wait until I had some money and was able to trade. Well, I've got plenty of blank CD's now, but I'm missing your E-mail address. If you still interested, or even if you're not, please just let me know. Thanks. Jon" mrbean43@aol.com??!!! Wait a minute! Isn't that the address that someone on this list once claimed was Linnell's? If I recall, they found it on his highschool's web page. There was some discussion to the effect of none of the fans should email him because if he wanted his fans to email him he would've given us the address directly. Someone found it disturbing that Linnell would use AOL. But the point is that this is damn confusing. To make things even weirder, it is signed 'Jon.' Possible explanations: 1. I am confused and totally off base 2. Linnell is on the list and trading his own bootlegs under this strange alias of Jon, because no one would suspect someone named John to use Jon as a fake name. He is perhaps trading the boots to get enough evidnece to start suing us all. Or meybe he just wants a record of some of his better shows. 3. This 'Jon' guy signed onto the high school almuni page pretending to be Linnell. Perhaps to try to get an invitation to the reunion? -John "my name is John too, and that makes this even weirder" Landis ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 May 2000 16:22:59 -0400 From: "Bryce" Message-ID: <8gc52b$112r$1@ussenterprise.ufp.org> Organization: They Might Be Giants, Unofficially http://www.tmbg.org Subject: Re: TMBG: New Thread : S and TMBG I once dreamt that I was conducting a full choir on O Do Not Forsake Me, accompanied by a pipe organ. Actually, it was a hoax perpetrated by one of Jon MrBean43's friends (if I remember correctly). This was revealed soon after the other post was made, so I'm surprised you missed it. -- Eat your broccoli, Nathan DinnerBell@tmbg.org http://www.geocities.com/fablesto/ ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: MrBean43@aol.com Message-ID: <6b.49aafaf.265b4156@aol.com> Date: Mon, 22 May 2000 22:05:10 EDT Subject: Re: sorta TMBG: WAIT A MINUTE!! I've yet to receive any E-mail from old classmates or fans of the band, but if I ever do get any I'm sure it will prove to be interesting.
