That link takes you to an ebay auction for a "test pressing" of the Malcolm in the Middle soundtrack. Is this an illegal auction? Is it pirated material? I don't think so. Assuming that it was created by the record label its not a bootleg. I'm sure it was never intended to end up on ebay though. The CD "art" is probably generic (black type on a white background). That's typical of such releases but unfortunately that makes it easy to counterfeit (except for the type on the disc.) If the seller were smart (and criminally minded) he'd burn many copies and then list them on ebay one at a time. Lets watch and see if that happens. I hope we won't see the contents of this CD ending up on the twistid.com or Napster. I think its best to wait for the real thing. And if you don't, please support TMBG by buying it AGAIN when its officially released. -B O N G O ------------------------------ From: "Matt Brown" Subject: Re: TMBG: Re: Malcolm in the Middle CD Date: Sun, 03 Sep 2000 11:04:59 EDT Message-ID: From learning a little bit about Cd/Record pressing, this isn't a CD-R. When they finally prepare the stampers that they use to 'stamp' the record or CD, they make a limited run of 100 or so. Then they listen to these, to see if the mastering and all the transfers went OK. And if they do, then they go ahead and start pressing massive numbers. --Matt >From: Bongo >Reply-To: Bongo >To: tmbg-digest@tmbg.org >Subject: TMBG: Re: Malcolm in the Middle CD >Date: Sun, 03 Sep 2000 01:36:39 -0700 > >"Erich Cannon" wrote: > > >http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=426134352 > > >So VERY tempting.... > > That link takes you to an ebay auction for a "test pressing" of the >Malcolm >in the Middle soundtrack. > > Is this an illegal auction? The "Crazy Eddie" from the lawsuit likely isn't a person (although there is a stand-up comic by that name)... It's probably the consumer electronics retailer based out of NY, best known for their "our prices are insaaaaaaaaane!" slogan...the 'empire' collapsed in 1987, which likely ties into the lawsuit with TMBG. -- http://www.bigwolfoncampus.org/ I'm like the rest of them with our thumbs up our asses If you call I will come but I'm about as quick as molasses -- Sloan, "Deeper Than Beauty" ________________________________________________________ 1stUp.com - Free the Web Get your free Internet access at http://www.1stUp.com ------------------------------ End of tmbg-list Digest #33-4 *****************************
