We need someone to tell us the tales of the > good old days, when you had to walk 5 miles in the snow to a TMBG show. Uphill, > both ways....! > Karin H Hello listers! I don't know if I really qualify as an old-timer, list-wise. I actually only discovered the joys of TMBG when Apollo 18 came out. I've been on the list for maybe 3-4 years? But not only am I older than I've ever been and now I'm even older, but I'm older than most of the list members. (Check my web page at http://www.geocities.com/russj_yah/personal.htm if you're curious.) Several years ago there was a thread about how TMBG was on some TV show or another. Lots of people were saying that they had various appearances on video. I'd never seen them at all, so I hatched the TMBG video bootleg project, where I'd ask a video of something and in return would supply a copy of the complete compilation. I also made it available to fans who didn't have anything to trade on a non-profit basis. There were then and still are many audio bootleg traders, but not many who have two VCRs, so I thought that I should give it a try. Well it was a big success, and I'm now working on Volume 4, and my master for Volume 1 has worn out after 300+ copies! (See http://www.geocities.com/russj_yah/tmbg.htm ) I also made a Joe Jackson video bootleg, but his fan base seems to be smaller and less willing to share these days. But they are as fiercely loyal as the TMBG fans. (Did you know that he wrote a book and released a symphony last year? Night & Day II comes out on Oct 24 and he plays in Denver Dec 9!) I subscribe to the digest, and mostly lurk these days, though the volume of mail has dropped off a lot since the "off-topic" list was created. But I'm still happy to get a new TMBG video, since THEY don't come to Colorado that often. The '99 Lodo show was great! And I video taped it myself. Too bad no one video-taped the Y2K prospect park concert. I would love to see that one. P.S. Does anybody have a good copy of the latest dial-a-song compilation? ======================================================================== Russ Josephson http://www.geocities.com/russj_yah Berthoud, Colorado, USA mailto:russj@juno.com "... not everyone is passionate about music ..." -- Joe Jackson "I took off the intellectuals, and put on There May Be Giants" -- Gloria "It is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do" -- 2 Nephi 25:23 ======================================================================== ------------------------------ From: Gegatron@aol.com Message-ID: <64.71af395.270cea47@aol.com> Date: Wed, 4 Oct 2000 16:17:11 EDT Subject: TMBG: boss of me I keep hearing small rumors that boss of me is getting radio play. They did add one more line to the end ("You're not the boss of me now and you're not so big") for a total of three times at the end of the song and the instrumentation is a little different, but I like it quite a bit. I requested it on a local modern rock station and they played it.. I even recorded it so I can listen to it over and over! Which is good since the MitM soundtrack has been pushed back to next year. :( -Mike wrote in message news:64.71af395.270cea47@aol.com... > I keep hearing small rumors that boss of me is getting radio play.
