We were all lined up against the wall waiting for the doors to open, and strolling down the sidewalk came a man and a woman with a baby in a stroller. As they walked down the line I noticed that several people did a double-take, then smiled or raised a hand, kind of a discreet wave. The man had this bemused smile on his face, and looked a little apprehensive, and as they passed he looked very relieved to disappear around the corner unmolested. The people who recognized Linnell on the street knew enough to respect his desire to not be mobbed. Though what as big a fanophobe as Linnell was doing strolling past a horde of Giantheads is beyond me. Maybe it was therapy... After the show, a few fans were lurking on the street when They came out the front door (maybe they knew that most of the fans were waiting to pounce out back). A few folks called out the usual "great show" comments, and a couple had humorous remarks to offer, which the Johns seemed to enjoy, and even paused for a moment to trade smart-ass remarks, an activity they seemed to enjoy much more than being bombarded with autograph requests. I personally would rather have a John respond to something I said than have their names scribbled on a piece of paper, and I think They would rather have it that way, too. If they guys are rushing out of a venue, there's probably a reason for it. If they want to make themselves available, they will. It seems a bit silly to whine about losing respect for the group when they don't do all that is asked by the fans.
