Mr. J. Ross interviewed them and they played a couple of songs live in the Studio "Older" and "Drink". Which sounded as tight as the mp3 I've downloaded of Emusic. So No complaints there. I can hardly remember the interview, but there was some joke about the M25 I think. BUT..... the reason I cant remember much was my new girlfriend was talking all the way through it. Is it just Doughty's vocals? I like Your Mom's Alright, so... What's so terrible about it? It's *NOT* a TMBG song, that's what's so terrible about it. It's not their style, it's mostly not even their writing. So what the hell is it doing on a TMBG album? There are a dozen songs I'd rather see in its place - I mean, if they're re-re-re-releasing WUFTM, Older, Edith Head, and all those, why not give us something we *really* want, like Certain People, Reprehensible, On the Drag, or Rest Awhile? are these songs *really* gone forever now? Doughty is just using TMBG as his outlet now that Soul Coughing broke up. It seems to me also that TMBG have become very poor judges of what their best material is. The songs from the Factory Showroom sessions are some of the best creations they've ever come up with, and yet, it seems the best we'll ever hear them is low quality mp3 versions on Long Tall Weekend. (and yes, I have the promo CD, but it's no better - it was clearly made by converting those mp3s back into wavs and then putting them on CDs) I think they had enough material that they could have easily planned out the next few albums - track lists and everything - and then when they got a record deal, gone and recorded the songs they wanted for the first album and released it, then two years later, done the same.... then it would be like.... 2005 before all the really weak material (like Mink Car and Wicked Little Critta) started showing up at all... -- lawrence solomon * http://www.fruhead.com/users/zaph * zaph@fruhead.com "I stole your hat and I hanged your cat, so tell me how you love me now." That would make a solid album. If I were to choose between all the the post-STD songs (emusic stuff, McSweeney's, live stuff etc.) my track list wouldn't look like this but it would have many of those songs on it. I have to keep in mind that some great songs may have been intentionally left off to give this collection of songs a certain flow. I've noticed from years of making mix tapes that if you put too many high energy songs together, they sometimes loose the impact they would otherwise had. Same goes for any songs that have similar feels to them. So I think they may be sticking a few songs in there because they are good for the flow of the album. And yet, personally I'm not that impressed with the sequence of the tracks. I have to hear it though. I agree with whoever said that "Working Undercover For The Man" doesn't seem like a last song. I think "Mink Car" would have made a good last song.
