I'm just curious because it sounds like a great idea. I checked out the link you provided to show the example of what you wanted it to be like(http://www.co.uk.lspace.org/books/apf/index.html) and that kind of thing would be great. Dan Hickey found that to be quite humorous when I showed it to him. -scratch "Wait, the edit's only 9 seconds shorter than the regular version?" I'm still working on it. There isn't much done, but you can check out some of my rough sketches at . Any suggestions are welcome. I'm looking primarily for content at the moment, rather than form (XTC before Adam Ant, I suppose), but I would like to know what would be the best way to separate general comments on a song from analysis of specific lines. If you (anyone here, not just the person to whom I'm replying) have any information on a song that I don't, let me know. It might also be nice to have some links to other pages with further information on something that a song references. Know of a good page for information on Menudo or MDC? Found an online biography of Fernando Wood? Let me know! >I'm just curious because >it sounds like a great idea. That's pretty much it, although I have a feeling that most of the entries will be LESS detailed than the tmbg.org report on NYC, because, really, it's hard to find information about some songs. -- May the light shine upon thee, Nathan DinnerBell@tmbg.org http://www.geocities.com/fablesto/ _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jul 2001 18:11:41 -0600 From: "makebase" Subject: Re: TMBG: Proposed TMBG site Message-ID: <9i88jl$2m96$1@ussenterprise.ufp.org> Organization: They Might Be Giants, Unofficially http://www.tmbg.org Nathan Mulac DeHoff wrote in message news:F11SgcOrBLSAQV6uPDV00014407@hotmail.com... > I'm still working on it. Well, I would suggest, perhaps, is using a table to set the lyrics out from the rest of the text. You could turn important pieces of lyric into links so that relevant snips of info can be seen when the mouse hovers over them, then use paragraphs for longer explainations about the song. If you can't follow what I'm saying, I did a little demo page you can check out at www.tmbg.cc/example.html so you can see better. I don't know if that does what you're trying to accomplish, but that's my suggestion. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jul 2001 00:43:16 -0000 From: "Nathan Mulac DeHoff" Subject: Re: TMBG: Proposed TMBG site Message-ID: Shaun: >Well, I would suggest, perhaps, is using a table to set the lyrics out from >the rest of the text. Wouldn't I have to include all of the lyrics to every song on my page in order for that to work, though? My original plan was only to include the relevant lyrics, but it might be neater to do it the other way. No, I don't think you need to put all the lyrics in a song. You could do just the couple lines you want to talk about. What I was suggesting was this. Like in the example, you can see where the little Pop-Up Video-type trivia is and you can hover your mouse over it to get the info snippets. In the italicized area you can put an analysis of the lines you are quoting. You could add a section, either at the top or bottom of the page with general info about the song, much like tmbg.org does with it's lyrics pages. Don't let me railroad you, though. I just whipped that up after your other post. With a little thought, you can make it very readable. By the way, I like what you've done so far.
