BUT... 2 or 3 weeks ago at the movie theater I work at they showed a tralier for Peter Pan 2 before Corky Romano. Odd bedfellows? It seemed strange to be showing a kiddie movie preview before such a teen-aimed "boner & homophobe joke" comedy, but I guess Disney can do whatever they want to since both films are released by them. I was also suprised because I thought the film wasn't going to be finished, LET ALONE be released in theaters. BUT Disney can do whatever they want (even if they lose huge bank on this film) - they could have my sorry ass killed in a second for naysaying "Max Keeble's Big Move" if they really wanted to. ANYWAY, the preview looked like average straight-to-video stuff, but they DID show some clips of songs. I think the Lost Boys sang & danced on a log in one of them; I am not too sure. None of the 1 to 2 second clips were all that memorable. Hopefully John & John's songs will make the movie a big success or at least be put on a soundtrack so we can hear them without having to watch the film. cheers Steve >Hi, I work at a videostore in the mall and a guy from the Disney Store came >in and was asking us about upcoming Disney DVD's and videos (apparently >Disney doesn't tell their "castmembers" a whole lot) and my manager was >talking to him about Peter Pan 2, among others. Recently, Damon Blalack from the newsgroup conducted an interview with Linnell, and he asked about this. Here's what Linnell said about it (in Damon's words, not John's): 3) Despite the fact that the Peter Pan sequel is coming out to theatres in February, and the trailer for it is out now, the songs TMBG wrote for it have definitely been scrapped. They had no idea it is still coming out, and said they would have been paid already if the songs had been retained. So it looks like there's no reason for anyone here to watch this movie, unless they just like Peter Pan. Hopefully the Johns will see fit to release their songs originally intended for the movie in some other format. (Maybe it'll come out around the same time as Andy Partridge's "James and the Giant Peach" demos.) Incidentally, the interview also contained some good news ("No!" will be released on Sony Wonder, probably in spring 2002), and some bad (no new State Songs in the works, the next album will not be released "for a long time"). I'm not sure whether they were dropped or decided not to do it, but in either case, it doesn't look like any of their songs will be in it (although I *think* I remember reading that two were written, so maybe they'll show up on NO 2 someday). The next regular rock album. The next State Songs album probably won't come out for even longer, though. Here's what Damon said: 4) Thunderbird, Your Mom's Alright, No Answer, Tumbleweed, and I'm Your Boyfriend Now are all songs that they would like to include on the next rock album, which will not be released for a long time. Once No! is released next year they will be busy promoting that, so a new rock album will not be forthcoming until a time after all that. 5) There is currently no new State Songs compilation being worked on. Any cover songs dealing with states (North to Alaska, Nebraska, and California Uber Alles are strictly live material simply to round out his live performances.) Now, we don't know how long "a long time" is, but I was really hoping that, after that excruciatingly long wait for Mink Car, we'd get a new album next year or something. As it is, they'll apparently be sitting on more songs for years, which means that, by the time this next album rolls around, we'll either be tired of them, or they'll have changed them in annoying ways. Looks like Mink Car didn't teach them any lessons in that respect. I'm curious as to what kind of promotion they'll be doing for "No!", and why it will apparently be more time-consuming than most other projects they've worked on.
