Just wondering if anyone here in the Big Smoke has found the new album yet. If so, where....please help [Attachment omitted, unknown MIME type or encoding (text/html)] So... TMBG were great Friday night, huh? My girlfriend and I had to leave just after 10 because we had another thing to go to (previously scheduled months ago, couldn't get out). I was so glad they did the glockenspiel thing by then, I hadn't ever seen that. Last time I saw them was in D.C. (or Virginia or whatever) like 7 years ago or something. What the hell was up with their opening act? People actually like that #!%^@? Sorry, they just sucked. Yes, I'm bitter. They opened with the full band in Philadelphia. I'm not sure whether I would say the quality was any better or worse, but they were more fun to watch. They moved around a lot on stage, while the duo set had them just sitting there. Also, there were a few songs done with the full band where it was hard to make out the words, which wasn't a problem when it was just the two of them. -- May the light shine upon thee, Nathan DinnerBell@tmbg.org http://www.geocities.com/fablesto/ _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp From owner-tmbg-list@tmbg.org Sun Nov 18 13:41:58 2001 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by ussenterprise.ufp.org (8.11.1/8.11.1) id fAIIfwI95677 for tmbg-list-outgoing; Sun, 18 Nov 2001 13:41:58 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from owner-tmbg-list@tmbg.org) Received: from hotmail.com (f138.law7.hotmail.com [216.33.237.138]) by ussenterprise.ufp.org (8.11.1/8.11.1) with ESMTP id fAIIfvu95669 for ; Sun, 18 Nov 2001 13:41:57 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from xornom@hotmail.com) Received: from mail pickup service by hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC; Sun, 18 Nov 2001 10:41:52 -0800 Received: from 172.134.76.136 by lw7fd.law7.hotmail.msn.com with HTTP; Sun, 18 Nov 2001 18:41:51 GMT X-Originating-IP: [172.134.76.136] From: "Nathan Mulac DeHoff" To: tmbg-list@tmbg.org Subject: TMBG: Flansburgh's Holiday Q&A Date: Sun, 18 Nov 2001 18:41:51 +0000 Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed Message-ID: X-OriginalArrivalTime: 18 Nov 2001 18:41:52.0027 (UTC) FILETIME=[B04FB6B0:01C17060] Sender: owner-tmbg-list@tmbg.org Precedence: bulk Reply-To: "Nathan Mulac DeHoff" This neat little interview is now up on the TMBG Unlimited page. For the benefit of those of you who aren't subscribers, here's the text: With the Holiday season quickly approaching John Flansburgh agreed to weigh in with a little Q & A to get you all in the 'Tis the season' mood. Thanksgiving Dinner: White Meat or Dark? "Personally, I like white, in spite of how much my folks told me I liked dark... Hey!" Best Childhood Christmas gift? "I got a tape recorder when I was ten, and a very nice guitar when I was 20. Those were pretty important." Age you realized that there was no Santa Claus? "I was thinking about this the other day. I think it just sifted in slowly. I don't know if I really wanted to burst the bubble." Christmas Villian: Ebaneizer Scrooge or The Grinch? "I must confess- I am a product of my times- I'm really more Grinch-oriented." Christmas movie to get you in at a 7-11 on Dec. 24th: "It's A Wonderful Life" or "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer" "I must confess- I am a product of my times- I'm really more Rudolf-oriented." Favorite Christmas Carol? "Silent Night" actually. Up your tree: Angel or Star? "Star" Guilty Pleasure: Mannaheim Steamroller, Kenny G, Jim Brickman or Enya? "Not to be a contrairian, but I have the most kick-ass Mills Bros. Xmas disc that is very un-smaltzy and underproduced. A real charmer. The other stuff sounds icky" Fruitcake or Candy off of Gingerbread House? "I'd have to go with fruitcake. The candy off Gingerbread houses can be sketchy." Favorite Holiday Underdog: Rudolph, Frosty, The Whos, Tiny Tim, Frank Bailey? "Rudolf!" Old School Jingles: Bing Crosby, Burl Ives , Perry Como or Nat King Cole? "Burl Ives is The Man." Schmaltzy Waltzy: Elvis' Blue Christmas or Alvin & The Chipmunks? "You could do worse than the Elvis Christmas disc. ig ot it. It rocks." Classical: Tchaikovsky's Nutracker or Handle's Messiah? "Messiah, please" Partridge In A Pear Tree or Two Turtle Doves? "Does the tree come with it? I'd have to go with a tree." What's your poison - Eggnog or Peppermint Schnapps? "I dig the nog. Just got some the other day, and home made is even better." Favorite reindeer name? "Dander? Wasn't one of them called Dander?" What you want from Santa this year? "I don't know if this is really a North Pole request, but I could go for a little more Peace on Earth." -- May the light shine upon thee, Nathan DinnerBell@tmbg.org http://www.geocities.com/fablesto/ _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp From owner-tmbg-list@tmbg.org Sun Nov 18 13:55:37 2001 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by ussenterprise.ufp.org (8.11.1/8.11.1) id fAIItbm96098 for tmbg-list-outgoing; Sun, 18 Nov 2001 13:55:37 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from owner-tmbg-list@tmbg.org) Received: from flat.tfl (IDENT:qmailr@m140-mp1-cvx1c.edi.ntl.com [62.253.12.140]) by ussenterprise.ufp.org (8.11.1/8.11.1) with SMTP id fAIItYu96090 for ; Sun, 18 Nov 2001 13:55:35 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from nuttyxander@nuttyxander.co.uk) Received: (qmail 13431 invoked by uid 8); 18 Nov 2001 18:55:32 -0000 Received: from asuka.flat.tfl (192.168.0.10, claiming to be "unit02.flat.tfl") by e-smith.flat.tfl with SMTP id smtpdESY5Zn; Sun, 18 Nov 2001 13:55:30 EST Message-ID: Date: Sun, 18 Nov 2001 18:54:24 +0000 To: tmbg-list@tmbg.org From: Alex Ingram Subject: Re: TMBG: Revenge of the Secret Mountain Laboratory References: In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain;charset=us-ascii;format=flowed User-Agent: Turnpike/6.00-U () Sender: owner-tmbg-list@tmbg.org Precedence: bulk Reply-To: Alex Ingram In message , Nathan Mulac DeHoff writes >Bryce: >>Then a "best of the crypt" album, for which somebody would come up >>with an excellent title out of the blue. > >"What's A Man Like Me Supposed To Do With All This Extra TMBG?" > >Okay, it's a little long. At first there were rumors thaet TMBG had been dropped from the show, but later Flans said in an interview somewhere that they decided to stop doing the music for the show because it was too time consuming and they wanted to focus on their other projects. He also implied that writing the score wasn't as creatively fulfilling as it seemed at first. Does anyone remember his exact words?
