We do deserve something. There was cool stuff on Then, the Earlier years, but it was only a quarter of the set. It reminds me of what Rhino did with DEVO comps. 2 years ago there were 2 DEVO collections they put out. Each was a 2 CD set. The first set was available widely in stores, cost a typical price for 2 CDs, but contained stuff that was widely available: mostly singles off of albums and songs they had done for soundtracks. The second comp was much cooler (i.e. what the fans were looking for) - it contained songs that had never been released (or even heard), stuff they had only played live before, and alternate demo versions of album tracks that the band had produced themselves. However, this comp was only available through Rhino's website (the Rhino Handmade imprint), was limited to 5000 copies produced, and cost over $40.00. It was somewhat annoying to have to pay more etc., but at least they did something for the fans. If such a TMBG comp were not deemed commercially viable, they could release it exclusively through the info club (if such entity still exists). Ah, well. We can always dream... -Sean ------------------------------ End of tmbg-list Digest #54-25 ******************************
