I haven't tried it, but a friend of mine who works in a video store played it at work and said a lot of people were asking him about it, like where could get the album it was on. Then when "I've Got a Fang" came on, he said he could see them changing their minds, and some refused to believe it was the same band *sigh* Kay [Attachment omitted, unknown MIME type or encoding (text/html)] [Attachment omitted, unknown MIME type or encoding (multipart/alternative)] ------------------------------ Message-ID: <006001c2317a$6841a960$3498e23f@oemcomputer> From: "James and Kimberly Mohan" Subject: Re: TMBG: Date: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 11:43:04 +1000 Date: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 07:22:11 -0500 >>Plus it's a good way to ease uppity preppy chicks into the sick world of >>TMBG. >Has anyone ever actually TRIED this? Very cool. I get a lot of comments on it. I also have the black TMBG Songs T-shirt which is also great, though not when it is 100+ degrees farenheight outside. I have so many t-shirts (both TMBG and non-TMBG alike) it is unbelievable. I need to buy a new Love T-shirt because my current one is wearing out-it is by far my favorite, so I wear it all the time. I wanted to buy the 20th anniversary shirt with the snowman on it at the Park City gig, but it was yellow, and I look very bad in yellow, so I didn't get it. They have a white one too, but it has the Hayseed Johns on it, and I don't really like that design too much. If only they put THAT one on a yellow shirt and the Snowman one on white, I could die happy. I liked the No! shirts too, but again, they were yellow (not as bad of a shade of yellow as the anniversary shirt, but still, I don't look good in it-makes me look sallow). I ended up buying the white tee with They Might Be Giants across the front in orange Mink Car font and the black cuffs and neckline. My husband says it is a very nice shirt and that he will have to steal it from my closet sometime. I don't ever let him wear any of my TMBG shirts because he is messy and will dribble spaghetti sauce all down the front of it aand leave a permanent stain. (I know, he has done this with other shirts, so now they are his). The new version should have kept that time travel aspect though. but the STD version is really a completely different song. the Mink Car version is ultra-cheesy, ultra-sappy, and well, kinda boring. it sounds like a boy band song. and to quote the Arrogant Worms about boy bands, "the words are stupid and the music's bland." they took out the most interesting lines of the song, and replaced one with a line that already occurs later in the song (the one about running out of things to say), they slowed it down just enough to take away all the energy, and they added that cheesy power ballad chorus-effect guitar sound, and the overly mellow organ sounds. there's no longer anything interesting in the song. and that is why I despise it. it is the worst thing TMBG have ever put on an album. plus, if you listen to When She Talks, the worst song Moxy Fruvous ever put on an album, you'll realise that the two songs are pretty much interchangeable (although WST has much worse lyrics) ------------------------------ End of tmbg-list Digest #55-21 ******************************
