Message-ID: From: "Erik J. Chuss" Date: Wed, 10 Jul 2002 11:23:48 -0400 Thanks all for the info on the Summerstage Gig! And also on finding the Addiction List. Just remember to beware of the 'Level 7' people. I don't know about you but they scare me. :-o One quick thought. We finally had a chance to check out 'NO!' on a PC this past weekend. It is great! Unfortunately, I can't get some of the lyrics out of my head ('No means No, No is always No...., etc.). It did get me thinking about where they came up with the ideas for some of the songs and what kids songs may have ended up on the proverbial 'cutting room floor'. Here's my guesses... 1. Yes! (Yes means Yes, Yes is always Yes...) 2) Fibber Island - Always Lie Re-mix! (Here on Fibber Island, We never tell the truth, We always tell a lie...) c. Eat Your Food! (There Are Starving Kids in China Re-Mix!) Sung to 'Clap You Hands' y- Children Are Forced to Make Ballons in a Chinese Factory Sweatshops (So If You Don't Behave I Will Have To Send You There!) @ - Stop That Now! You're Eyes Will Stay Thay Way! 1. Fix the Clock - '4 of 2' Again these are just my guesses. I have been to many TMBG concerts over the years but I have never once seen They Might Be Giants the Movie nor have I ever stolen any album by Sammy Davis Jr. from my grandparents but I must admit owning all the official recordings as well as to buying (and creating) badly recorded bootlegs of gigs just to say that I have some rare recordings that not everyone else might have. I agree they need revision, but using Level 8 for that would totally blow the sequence. Maybe it should work like one of those quizzes from Cosmopolitan Magazine, where you answer a bunch of questions and total up the points from your answers to see where you fall. Sounds like a web page to me. Anybody wanna make it? (I'd volunteer, but I have too many irons in the fire as it is.) As a huge TMBG fan for many years I have seen a lot of "if you like TMBG you will love *band*" statements on the list/newsgroup. I didn't want to just say that again, but it is a really excellent time for people to take a look at my favorite band, Pinataland. They are a local NYC band which describes themselves as "Brooklyn's finest dark old world five-piece orchestrette." You can read more about them on: http://www.pinataland.com/ But more importantly you can download 5 tracks from their upcoming full length album. The songs are amazing and give you a glimpse into what their past 2 EPs and future full-length album are like. If you enjoy the tracks please consider donating money to the band. They have a link setup to musiclink.com which is a band patronage site, but if you want to arrange a direct payment (no 30% cut taken out) you can email Dave from the links on the page. The band needs $5000 to complete the recording of their album. There are currently a handful of TMBG fans who already have discovered the wonder of Pinataland and hopefully this will be an opportunity for others to jump on board and help them finish their album.
