This is probably the most comprehensible of all of TMBG's songs, though they do manage to throw in a couple of Giantisms ("It was the loveliest party that I've ever attended / If anything was broken I'm sure it could be mended") ("Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding").

Quoth Angelica Lemke <lemke_a@CC.DENISON.EDU>:

I disagree with the comment that "Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding" is a Giantism. It along with damn near everything else in the song makes complete and total sense, a bit of a departure for the band. Shake the devil's hand=hang out with a racist bastard...it seems a pretty simple interp to me.

about the "devil" line, i really think the narrator is talking to the racist friend, telling him if he goes to hell (for all the racist things hes said) theres no turning back. its kinda funny if you think about it. here is a little skit to explain my self.

SCENE, HELL--

DEVIL:hello racist friend. you will be punished for all that damn racist crap youve said over the years!!!

RACIST FRIEND:woh, hey, i,uh,i was just..kidding, yeah thats the ticket...it was just a joke.

DEVIL:sorry, thats not gonna work. get ready to fry! moohahahaha!!!!!

THANK YOU. GOODNIGHT.
