Lincoln Commands
Lincoln can accept two types of commands: channel commands and /msg commands. Channel commands are spoken as text in the channel itself, while /msg commands are given as a message directly to Lincoln.
/msg Commands
- /msg Lincoln TMBG
- This command adds your nickname to Linc's database, so he knows how to find you in the future.
- /msg Lincoln help [<command>]
- This gives you a list of the /msg commands Lincoln can respond to, so you don't have to keep looking back here. The optional argument gives you help on a specific /msg command.
- /msg Lincoln pass <pwd>
- This sets your Lincoln password for use for the Notes and Ident commands. When called with two arguments, this command can change your password from the first argument to the second.
- /msg Lincoln who #tmbg
- This shows a list of the people logged on to #tmbg, and each one's info line.
- /msg Lincoln whois <nick>
- This command tells you about the person whose nickname you specify. The person need not be logged on, but must be known by Lincoln.
- /msg Lincoln info <text>
- This sets your info line to
. The info line is shown during a Linc-style who or whois, and also when you log on to the channel. If you use NONE for <text>, Linc will remove your info line. - /msg Lincoln email <address>
- This sets your email address for other #tmbg folks to see when they do a Linc-style whois on you.
- /msg Lincoln ident <password> [<nick>]
- If you log on from a different site than usual, Lincoln may not recognize you. This command will allow him to notice who you really are. The password is mandatory. Your nickname is optional unless you are under a different one then usual, in which case that argument must be filled with the nick that Lincoln knows.
- /msg Lincoln notes <password> <command> [special arguments...]
- Notes is a way to leave a message for another user. The password is mandatory, and each command has a set of arguments that goes with it. Here is a list of the commands:
- INDEX: This takes no arguments, and lists the messages waiting for you.
- READ <num>: This shows you the text of a message. The argument is either the message number or the keyword ALL.
- ERASE <num>: This erases a message. The argument is either the message number or the keyword ALL.
- TO <nick> <msg>: This sends a message to a user. The nickname must be known by Lincoln. If the note is successfully sent, Linc will tell the user that he has a note waiting when he logs on.
- /msg Lincoln seen <nick>
- This command, with the nickname of a #tmbg resident, will inform you of how long it has been since they last visited.
- /msg Lincoln rose <nick> [<msg>]
- This command delivers a rose to the person specified, with the optional message on an attached card.
