Lincoln's Lyrics Trivia

Lincoln, the #tmbg bot, also presides over a subsidiary channel called #TMBGtrivia. This channel is a nonstop #game that involves supplying lyrics to songs. If you'd like to take part, follow the directions below.

1. If you aren't familiar with #tmbg, please go there first. You'll get a feel for how the IRC culture works and what behavior is acceptable. Plus, Lincoln will get to know you. For more info, visit the main IRC page.
2. Once you have gotten to know the ways of the channel, /join #TMBGtrivia. You can open this up in a new window so you can continue your presence on #tmbg. If you've set yourself up correctly, on #tmbg, Lincoln should welcome you on #TMBGtrivia as well.
3. If a game is running, you can either jump in or wait until it is over to start playing. Be sure to ask the current players if it's OK before joining-- they may have carefully designed teams.
4. The game works like this: Lincoln gives you four words of a TMBG song. The winner of the point is the first player to respond with the next five words in that song.

Now that you are acquainted, here are the trivia commands that Lincoln recognizes. These are all "channel commands," and should not be typed within a /msg to Lincoln.

!trivia [<num>]

This command starts a trivia game. By default, the game is played to three points. If <num> is specified, the game is played to that many points.

tr join team <num>

Joins the specified team. Note that <num> is the number of the team (1 or 2), rather than the name of the team.

tr <answer>

The syntax for answering a question. Remember that you need at least five words for your answer to count. You can freely add more words than that without penalty.

tr help

Shows Lincoln's help file. If no game is in progress, it only shows how to start a game.

tr team <name>

Change the name of your team to <name>.

tr show teams

List who is on each team.

tr show points

List how many points each team has.

tr show comment

Redisplay the question (in case you were split or lagged when it was displayed the first time).

tr quit

Stop the game.
