I know it's long, but weather through it and I think you'll understand what needs to be done... ********** Begin Quote ********** There is something extremely wrong with every single person in this world. They seem to be part of a pointless simulation. "The Matrix" has portrayed this idea somewhat, yet we watch it and go back to our daily lives. Yet in this very life, underneath the seeming diversity in people's opinions, values, talents, and interests, there is something that makes everyone the same. It is as though this planet is populated only by mindless fakes, objects that provide the appearance of intellect on the surface but are based on only mechanical reflexes and primitive thought patterns. I don't really care if anything I say has been said before, if it was portrayed in movies, in books, or in the lyrics of some useless song. With 6 billion people covering the globe at any given time, thousands and thousands of years of written literature, probability dictates almost any combination of words has occurred numerous times. Yet there is clear evidence there was no action, so those words, just like the people who spoke them, must have been just more fakes. I am forced to use this language (also created by the fakes) because there is no alternative, so everything I write here could be misunderstood to make me sound like one of them, but it will be the action that I take and the dedication that will separate me from them. In my estimation the fakes that occupy this planet don't make up 99%, but more like 99.9999999% of the population. I know this because I've searched, and in my search have so far only found one true ally (I have found him via the internet as well). But even with those numbers we would not give up because there is no logic in giving up. The people on this planet are all fakes because the societies have made them this way. Ideas that populate people's minds have no logic or purpose. Concepts such as religion, god, morality, individualism, freedom, identity, happiness, love and billions of others are all just memes. Like parasites they infect the minds and spread from one person to the next. They have no point or purpose; they exist without any logical basis or foundation. The fakes are completely controlled by them, and they will never see beyond them. To not be controlled by them one must do more then just realize that they exist. One must resist any ideas that have no point, endlessly question, and never accept imperfection or compromise in any answer. We (myself and my ally) are different though. While we have had the limitation of existing only in these societies, something has made it possible for us to resist being indoctrinated into becoming one of those fakes. We have no arbitrary wants, needs, desires, or preferences. If this world continues to exist the way it is then nothing in it will ever have a point. It will always be just a product of random evolution, one with no importance or relevance. The only logical goal is to dedicate our lives to increasing our numbers, those that aren't fakes, so that in thousands of years our numbers may be such that the fakes would no longer be a threat to progress. Those that join us must see every other person occupying this planet as the enemy, and us as their only allies. Like us they must have dedication only to taking the most logical action, and to nothing else. To tell you more about us, we've posted some personal information about ourselves on a website. You'll also find past responses to us on that webpage. Obviously anyone reading this email is most likely just another fake. Do not simply reply to this email, if you do your message will almost certainly be ignored. If you do wish to communicate, first demonstrate your interest by taking the effort to find us online, one of the ways to do that is described below. Use a major search engine to search for every combination of any two words from the list below. The order of the words shouldn't matter as long as you do not search for them in quotes, but generally it should be clear what words can go together and in what order. Also when you pick the right combination you shouldn't need to look at more then the first matches. There are actually at least 7 (or more) different combinations and websites you can find by searching this list. The one you should contact will clearly say it is the 'communication' page and will have three forms to fill out. Mention what sites you did find, the more effort it seems you took the more likely we would believe in your dedication. There is no trick to this and this isn't meant to be quick, it should, however, be fairly clear if/when you find the right site. The following search engines were verified by us, please use any of them as other search engines may simply not list us correctly: Yahoo, Google, InfoSeek, Lycos, MSN, LookSmart, HotBot, InfoSpace, Ask.com, AllTheWeb, Teoma, WebCrawler, AltaVista, AOL Search, Netscape Search, Dogpile. perfect pointless theory endless desire defiance eternal wants logic competitive driving perpetual competition impartial vision logical meaningless teenage infinite dream final best escape fury objective purpose thought indoctrination only ambition clue view perfection If this can't be solved, or if you never reach us, there should be no reason for you to give up as we will never give up and thus there will always be some way to find us. -------------- Ryan and Jacob ********** End Quote ********** We need to find these people, and tell them how fucking arrogant they are. I told him I'd heard it before but I was so tired I couldn't remember where. Having slept now, it's rather obvious to me. It's the exact same song as "Empty Bottle Collector" from the Working Undercover for the Man EP. I was reading the liner notes and it explains where every song came from, so I thought I'd transcribe the explanation so as to clear things up for anyone else who had any questions. There you go for anyone who was wondering where any of it came from. Having not subscribed to TMBGU nor purchased McSweeny's, it was a good investment for me. They just get better & better every time I see them perform. I didn't get there as early as I would have liked, but I still managed to get a 2nd row center spot. I wasn't driving, so I had to go at the mercy of my friends (who I might add, this was there first TMBG gig ever and now they are going to go out and buy all their CDs. Floodies no more!)However, had I gone up earlier, I would have missed the radio interview with Flansy, so it all worked out OK. >So, yeah the opening act, Noe Veneble was an attractive girl who was an >obvious TMBG fan. My friend remarked that she sounded much like Phoebe on >"Friends." I thought she sounded a lot like Moonpools & Caterpillars (I saw their final performance in 1998 when they opened for Howard Jones). When she first came out, she insisted on turning off the fan on stage because otherwise, there would have been "A skirt incident" (referencing Marilyn Monroe). It definitely was toasty in there without the air movement, but at least I didn't have other people's sweat on me like at other TMBG gigs I have been to (notably the one at Wasatch Events Center back in 1996). She definitely was a TMBG fan-she mentioned that her obsession with Boots (Doc Martens) started about the same time she discovered TMBG. (And so she had to write a song about it-probably my favorite one in her entire set). She was very cool-had I not spent $68 on TMBG merchandise, I would have been able to afford her CD (guess I will have to buy it from her website, http://www.noevenable.com ). She mentioned that her CD was on sale at the T-shirt stand in the display case with the gnomes. "And nobody better steal the gnomes-I will be very upset if you do, but you are allowed to fondle them if you like." I was lucky enough to get a setlist at the end of the show, so here is the correct order: Clap Your Hands James K. Polk (complete with confetti cannon) >When TMBG came on stage, Flans said that they're used to playing >bars when there is a big sporting event going on. People routinely >turn >around to see the TVs to find out the score. No sports on TV >tonight, but >they had "Direct From Brooklyn" playing on a TV at the T->shirt stand and >Flans remarked that it was frustrating to see himself >so thin in the older >videos. Ha ha! I thought this was definitely funny-thanks for mentioning it Shaun! I now wish I had taken my microphone and MD player in so I would have this forever captured. (I did take in my camera though and should get some good shots)I think this was in between James K. Polk and Bed, Bed, Bed. (It was fairly early in the show-Flansy had to stop Linnell from going onto the next song because he had to have his say about this) Bed, Bed, Bed In The Middle >Anyway, I was finally close enough to the stage to be showered by the >JKP >confetti (which I snatched up as a souvenier). Flans also said >that >tonight was the first time they had played "In The Middle" live, >which is >cool, even if it's not entirely true. I assume it is >though. He said >there was a free ginger ale for anyone who could >correctly name the number >of times they screwed up the song. Having >finished the song without >error, he said something like, "Ha! No >ginger ale for anyone!" I picked up some of the confetti as well, so I can stick it in with the rest of my concert memorabilia. It was great, but by the end he >was >saying "Press 13". I don't think my phone has a 13. Dan Hickey is definitely a master on the Drums. There was one point where he was playing like Ringo Starr and Animal from The Muppet Show-he had this cheezy grin on his face and his forehead was all scrunched up as Animal. Fingertips John Lee Supertaster Birdhouse In Your Soul Boss Of Me Older Man, Its So Loud In Here (The strobe lights were a bit much during this song, but it was still fun. I was never fond of strobe lights because their effect is too much like the aura of a migraine) Robot Parade On The Drag The Guitar Drink! (That's D-R-I-N-K-The exclamation point is Silent!) Particle Man Dr Worm (encores) 4 of 2 Ana Ng How Can I Sing Like A Girl (encores) (The crowd was at this point chanting Is-Tan-Bul! Is-Tan-Bul!Is-Tan-Bul!-at first I think people were chanting We Want More! We Want More!We Want More!. Dan Miller came out an did a fascinating intro-a lot of people didn't recognize it at first though, but once everyone got out on stage, they soon figured it out & everyone went wild) Istanbul (Not Constantinople) No One Knows My Plan (Was supposed to be Sleepwalkers, according to the setlist-I guess they will change depending on the energy of the audience-Sleepwalkers was probably too mellow for the crowd-that place was ROCKIN'!) >If you saw anyone with kakhi shorts with what you hoped were CDs in the >back >pockets, that was me, and yes, they were in fact CDs. They were also giving out bags to put all the goodies in. Laura (the lady selling t-shirts & stuff) said that the Band laughed at her when she said she was offering bags because they didn't think that it would be necessary. I guess they underestimated the buying power of the fans! >We listened to it on the 45 minute drive back to Salt Lake. It's >pretty >cool, especially since I had never subscribed to TMBG >Unlimited. I wish they would have told me sooner, however, I can't be too picky, because I have met both of the Johns and had them sign almost everything I owned at the time and I did get my picture taken with them, so I can't say that I left empty handed. It was a fantastic show and I can't wait til the next time they come to town. (I may have to scrounge up some money to maybe catch them in Vegas or something). My next autograph opportunity may also be when Gigantic finally plays here-I have gotten wind of another film festival here in the fall I need to get details on so that maybe Gigantic can play then(hope for us in Utah yet! Any opportunity before Sundance is worth looking into) I am still on Cloud 9 after last night's show-eventually the high will have to go down, but for now I am enjoying every second of it! Date: Sun, 14 Jul 2002 20:20:09 -0400 This was pretty funny. I love the author's monolithic blindspot about his email itself being a meme, and the ironic dismissal of his own ideas' unoriginality as irrelevant. I also got a kick out of his complete inability to actually establish a "purpose" in spite of his self-proclaimed non-fakeness. This was my favorite part, though: > With 6 billion people covering the globe at any given > time, thousands and thousands of years of written > literature, probability dictates almost any combination > of words has occurred numerous times. This is only close to true if each person spends their time forming word sequences completely at random. (Which, if that's what this guy is doing, would help explain his email. :) But most of all, I love that he says this, then invites you to identify his website by means of its unique word combinations. How's that for integrity of thought? I'm not sure why this wasn't on Mink Car. If they're still planning on doing a brass band album, "Museum Of Idiots" will probably be on it, but I haven't heard anything about that in over a year. You could probably name three fairly mellow songs on any TMBG album. Hmm, let's see what songs are possibilities for the next album: Thunderbird No Answer Museum Of Idiots Tumbleweed Au Contraire I'm Your Boyfriend Now Your Mom's Alright Words Are Like (although I, personally, doubt it) Anything else? -- Be your own broom, Nathan DinnerBell@tmbg.org http://www.geocities.com/fablesto/ _________________________________________________________________ Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: Gegatron@aol.com Message-ID: <12b.141ee56d.2a637a46@aol.com> Date: Sun, 14 Jul 2002 21:07:18 EDT Subject: Re: TMBG: new album? If it weren't for the female vocals, I'd probably like it more. On the Drag and Rest Awhile should be on the album. Rest Awhile is a definitive opener track. -john ------------------------------ From: "Nathan Mulac DeHoff" Subject: Re: TMBG: new album? Well, maybe the "something grabbed ahold of my hand" Fingertip, but that's not a big deal. I like "Words Are Like," but the Battle of the Bands project produced some better songs. >On the Drag and Rest Awhile should be on the album. Rest Awhile is a >definitive opener track. While they're both great songs, they've already been released, so I'm not sure they should be on the album. Speaking of opening tracks, though, "Tumbleweed" sounds like a good opener. -- Be your own broom, Nathan DinnerBell@tmbg.org http://www.geocities.com/fablesto/ _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Message-ID: <000a01c22bab$f7c79790$4d8d570c@fireline> From: "john m" Subject: Re: TMBG: new album? I also doubt they'd be on the album, also. In a way, it's too bad the WUFTM EP was ever released, because that will probably discourage them from releasing the great songs on there otherwise. (Of course, I'm glad it was released because I can have the songs now.) I agree, Tumbleweed would make a good opener. (Of course, I'm glad it was >released because I can have the songs now.) WUFTM was released on a limited basis through EMusic-It was before Unlimited came out, but if you downloaded the entire album (for $9.99), they would also send you an official copy if I remember right. I loved the whole concept of TMBG Unlimited and I had no regrets for paying $9.99 a month for an entire year of TMBG tracks. It was totally worth it to me, plus the TMBG Unlimited pullover fleece jacket was an added bonus (I LOVE it-it is my favorite piece of clothing in the entire world. Can't wear it now-it is 107 degrees farenheit, but when it cools down again, it will come out of the closet). I wish I had a CD burner earlier in the year though, because I could have had the entire collection. True, I had them on my hard drive, but it didn't do me any good when my computer decided that it wanted to run only in Safe Mode (and it lets you see what is on your computer, but there isn't enough juice to do anything with it). I got a new tower, but had to go to places like Audiogalaxy to find the missing tracks (which you can't do anymore-it got shut down too) and EMusic won't release tracks from previous months once the new month was released (and now that whole program is over, you can't get any of them from there anymore, however this may change in the future-who knows). I have to admit that I really only stayed with EMusic to get the TMBG songs-they have a huge library, but it is mostly bands I have never heard of, or they were bands I had no interest in. I did find a few that I liked & downloaded, so I may go back when it becomes more recognized. Also, my computer as been having issues with their player (Free Amp and their own, eMusic player that is based on that system), so if I couldn't get it to work, why waste money that is better spent at live shows and supporting the bands more directly. I may have to wait until I have a better computer (eMachines are kinda crappy, so I wouldn't recommend buying one if you are into the whole multimedia scene) Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. More babbling and ranting will have to ensue on another day.
