I'm pretty sure since it happened to be mentioned today in class. Without further adieu, here they are: 1) 9/9/96 - Boston, MA - Hatch Shell - 80min An outdoor show. Interesting, except for the intermittent pass the guy game. 2) 10/14/96 - Washington, D.C., - Taste Of D.C. - 90 min Outdoor show. Well shot, about 5 rows back. Includes closeups of both Johns, as well as the infamous puppetheads. 3) 11/22/96 - Los Angeles, CA - Arons Records instore - 40min - Master I shot this one myself, and I can ensure you that the quality is excellent. I was right in the front and got closeups of both Johns, even extreme closeups. Youd have to see it to believe it. See Linnell dance to Particle Man! See Brian break his drumstick! Observe their shameless efforts to sell T-shirts! 4) 11/29/96 - Minneapolis, MN - Let It Be Records instore - 40min Also shot in the front row, except that the cameraman was sitting down. Makes the Giants look huge. Fun to watch Linnell entertain the crowd while Flans tries to figure out how to tune his guitar. Probably the last recorded appearance of Linnells lovely red accordian. A real treat. E-mail back to trade these videos. Im looking for Barenaked Ladies current mini-tour, TMBG current tour, Ben Folds Five, and Moxy Fruvous tapes. You would probably >not find the name nearly as much anywhere else. Hmmm... They Might not Be a favorite of the Chinese... I guess there's not a lot of Chinese people here. Well, I AM Chinese, but even I confess to having to resort to asking a better Chinese expert: my father. Here's what he told me about the name spelled "Ng": If you meet a Chinese person with the name Ng, he/she is most likely of Cantonese origin (for those who don't know, Chinese is spoken in many different dialects; Mandarin is the main "official" dialect and is the most spoken and taught dialect; the Cantonese dialect-speaking faction is considerably smaller, but is very well-known because it is spoken a lot in Hong Kong). Ng is the way this surname is spelled and pronounced in Cantonese. It sounds more like "ung," but a thick-accented Cantonese person probably could pronounce it "ing." However, the official pronunciation for this name is supposed to be the same as the pronunciation for the number "five" in Cantonese. That would be "ung." (To get even more picky, I could get into tone, but...) In Mandarin, the character is pronounced "wu." So a Mandarin-speaking Chinese person wouldn't immediately recognize the name Ng unless that person also knew some Cantonese. I'm Mandarin, so I never knew the name existed... until I asked about it. In any case, someone with the name Wu (or Woo) might possibly just have the Mandarin version of the name Ng. Finally, my dad says this word Ng might also be used by Vietnamese people as a surname. If I can find a Vietnamese person, I'll ask about it. Perhaps the Johns weren't too far off in their explanation after all! The man claims he was just joking when he sent the individual a series of threatening e-mail messages, one of which said: "How do you want to die! I know your wife. I know where you live. Weasels will rip your flesh." Police were able to trace the messages after contacting the man's Internet Service Provider.
