I was in my grandmother's house all alone when Smashing Pumpkins broke in and tried to kill me. So I killed a couple of band members until Billy Corgan and I started talking. Then they all got together and play "Nothing's Gonna Change My Clothes" by They Might Be Giants for me. I asked them if they'd record it for me because it sounded great (in other words, it didn't sound like Smashing Pumpkins), but they said that it was a special 1-time gift for me and that they wouldn't record it for me. Then they left and came back a little later. They started playing another song, but I don't remember what it was, and I don't really remember too much after that. Oh well. The first is Restless was in the middle of switching distributors, and this caused delays of many of our releases. But now our distribution deal with BMG is official (as of last week), so we are free to schedule records again. The other reason is one of the unreleased tracks on the double CD, "Gettin' Sentimental Over You," was actually a medley that incorporated a non-TMBG song, and there was some legal red tape in getting clearance to use the song. So we stood around, and sure enough Flans came out. Well, Bek and I went over to him, and I put my hand out and instead he grabbed my elbow and shook that, then rolled his eyes at me as if he was very annoyed with me. Then he turned to Bek, and she kissed him! I was so surprised I just gaped at them. Then he left, I don't know where Linnell was. Then everyone cleared otu of the building (it was Bogarts) and we went down to see where the artists hang out before the show- it was really posh (but tacky) with white carpets and leather sofas, and Bek found food- fruit pizzas (just like at school!) and corn dogs. That was it...I wonder why whenever I dream of Them, they're always annoyed with me for some reason...oh, Johns, what have I done to you? I love Beck. He is awesome (see .sig below). He almost rivals the Johns in coolness- maybe not so much, but still, who can rival such lyrics, such rhythm? Cutting through the crowd like an ambulance driver! He gets down, he gets down, he gets down all the way! *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Stefanie Elliott "Beautiful air condition, sittin' in the kitchen wishin' I was livin' like a hit man" smelliot@indiana.edu -Beck Hansen, "Hot Wax," _Odelay_ **StarWars*DNRC*Medievalist*X-Phile*TMBG*MiSTie #14672*MacUser*Comics*Reader** ------------------------------ Message-ID: Date: Tue, 21 Jan 1997 22:58:50 -0500 (EST) From: Lawrence P Solomon Subject: Re: TMBG: It really works! I personally don't want to vote for a design until I've seen them all- so my question is, is there a deadline for the OMLT designs? One on which all of the designs must be in so that we voters can choose the design that we prize above all? I don't want to vote for one then see one that I like better later...fairness and justice! :) *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Stefanie Elliott "Beautiful air condition, sittin' in the kitchen wishin' I was livin' like a hit man" smelliot@indiana.edu -Beck Hansen, "Hot Wax," _Odelay_ **StarWars*DNRC*Medievalist*X-Phile*TMBG*MiSTie #14672*MacUser*Comics*Reader** ------------------------------ From: Skameleon@aol.com Date: Tue, 21 Jan 1997 23:27:37 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <970121232534_1725664133@emout11.mail.aol.com> Subject: TMBG: T-Shirt Hello~ i am new to this list thing, and this is probably going to seem like a really dumb question, but where can i write to, or order a really neat TMBG t-shirt. i've been looking for one for a while, but i can't seem to find any around here. Thanks a lot! -kristen- ------------------------------ From: Christi587@aol.com Date: Tue, 21 Jan 1997 23:32:38 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <970121233213_1825489707@emout20.mail.aol.com> Subject: TMBG: oh, no... not the OMLT again! This will be short, I promise, because the physics book awaits. Regarding shirt designs: I have suggested that voting be postponed until after a deadline when all designs have been submitted. Tell Evan he should get off his butt and make a deadline. Also: because Evan asked, I will inform all naive latecomers right now: *I* am the one actually taking orders for the shirts. But *not* right now. Not until after a design has been chosen. So, let's set a deadline and git those designs in and voted on! I want this shirt to be ready before the 2040 tour rolls around, and I'm sure you do, too. Oh, by the way... xI was watching a movie today and They were mentioned by this guy. This xgirl said to him you can't start a band with two people and he replied, xtell that to They Might Be Giants! What an unexpected little surprise!! xAarti Did this movie have a name, perchance? I would like to know if that person, or anyone else >would know the average ball-park price of an accordion. I bought mine from an ad I saw in a local underground music magazine. The man was asking $195 but I bargained it down to $150. When you're looking for an accordian, remember that there are button accordians and keyboard accordions. I think there are three main sizes of the keyboard accordians. The smaller size has 26 keys and 12 buttons, the intermediate size (the kind I have) has 41 keys and 120 buttons. I'm not sure about the full size because I've never played one. I've seen the small size for under $100 before. John Linnell usually plays the intermediate and sometimes the full size. I recommend buying it used and look for ads where musical instrument advertising is free for the sellers. If possible, find someone who inherited the accordion and doesn't know anything about them. Or you can do what I originally did and make friends with someone who has an accordion so you can borrow it for free. I hope that helped. -Aaron ------------------------------ From: FamousName@aol.com Date: Wed, 22 Jan 1997 01:06:24 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <970122004823_441919941@emout14.mail.aol.com> Subject: Re: TMBG: categorizing In a message dated 97-01-21 18:32:48 EST, chakroff@ix.netcom.com (Evan Chakroff) writes: << >It dosen't matter if it's classical, country, rock, or Weird Al. :) >It's the feel, my friend.
