<< i have a radio show and our station has a phone hookup where a
person
can get put on the air. we also have a hookup where one can dub
shows. put
that together, and that means i can dub dial a song stuff. however, i
have two concerns,
one, is das material cleared for fcc broadcast (that's not a major
concern
seeing as our station is relatively small) and two, is there any foul
 language on das material. >>

Ive never heard any foul language on DAS but if you don't want
to take the risk, (I wouldn't) all you have to do is record your call to
DAS and tape it, ringing included. Then on your show, when you say,
"hey, lets call They Might Be Giants' Dial-a-Song" just play the tape.
Yes its a little misleading but it would sound exactly the same as if
you made the call live.

Anyone else need their problems solved?

Hey/hay,

OK. They're coming to Alma. They're coming to Alma. (thank you thank you
thank you joda for being the bearer of such awesome news to wake up to) I
honestly didn't think that They would *ever* come to Michigan...plus it's
such a wonderful excuse to miss the PSAT, which is being offered the very
next day at 7 am (hah!).

The next best thing to this would be hearing that Zeppelin are staging a
reunion in a samll club in Lansing, and that it would be a free all ages
show, and special guests Pink Floyd (with Waters) and TMBG.

Needless to day, I am one happy camper :D

their glorious presence! I'm creaming my shorts here, people - I'm gonna
call the college or something today and try to find out more information.

	Okay, here's the info:

The concert is October 17th at 8pm, I don't know where yet but I'm
assuming either in the Heritage Center or somewhere on the grounds - AC
isn't exactly huge. Tickets are $10 and go onsale "sometime at the
beginning of October." They just confirmed the concert last week, so
they're not sure when exactly yet. As of right now, it's only open to
students, alums, and their guests, but since myself and about three other
friends are dual-enrolled at the college, we can get tickets. Plus, my
friend Teresa's dad is a prof there, so if anyone from the list
desperately needs tickets, I'll probably be able to help ya there.
Finally, AC is practically in my backyard, so if anyone needs directions,
names of motels, good restaurants (hah!) I can be of service. :)

Cheers!

this song...

Cliff Richard & The Young Ones : Living doll

Now those who have the Frank O'Toole performance know that TMBG performed
a song by the same title... anyone ever hear of these artists or their

Cliff Richard was a really really big singer in England he had something
like 50 top 40 singles from the 50's to the 80's, he is best known in the
U.S. for the top 10 single "Devil Woman" in 1976 (he only had a handful of
hits in the U.S. and those were during the disco era).

"Living Doll" was his first #1 U.K. hit, and was originally released in
1959 (it made it to #30 in the U.S.) In 1986 he re-released it as a comic
collaboration with the U.K. TV stars from the Young Ones and it made it to
#1 again. The reason it was a collaboration with the Young Ones was
because Cliff had a #1 single in 1962 with a song called... "The Young
Ones"... that the TV show got it's name from (satirically).
If you haven't seen the Young Ones it is a classic mid 80's comedy show
that had been shown on MTV, it is quite hysterical. They weekly had
British new-wave bands as guests, including Madness and Bow Wow Wow.

The Young Ones was a British television comedy in the early eighties
featuring four college students, Neil the hippy, Rick the Socialist, Vyvyan
the Punk, and Mike who was somewhat normal, living together and having a
generally vulgar and hilarious time. They used to show reruns on Comedy
Central and maybe they still do. As I have gleamed from the show, Cliff
Richards was apparently a major singing personality in the UK at that time
somewhat like Michael Jackson was in the States. I've never heard the
particular song in question but as a Young Ones fan I'd be interesting in
knowing where you found it. I've got no idea as to if the song TMBG did is
the same or not.

Also for all you looking for a MP3 player check out WinAMP. It's the best
player there is and best of all its free (well its shareware but you can
download it free and its not crippled in anyway, no nag screens no or
anything like that) I dont remember the direct URL for the winAMP page but
check out http://pants.netvirtual.com/mp3.html for links to all sorts of
MP3 goodies including winamp.

hEY HeY!
okay, here's the deal, i am seriously contemplating going up to Milwaukee
for the October 19th show at *the rave*. (It's only about 1100 miles
away if i figured that right!) Anyways, I was wondering if there were
any kind people in the Milwaukee area or anywhere that are planning on
going to this show that would be willing to:

A)let me and a friend stay with you for a night [we may not need to stay
with anyone for the night if we can work out our departure time just
right, but if anyone would be willing to entertain us for the day before
the show... =)]
B)give us a ride to *the rave* from wherever we get dropped off in
milwaukee or whatever town you are in (yes, we're poor and planning on
either taking greyhound or amtrak up there)
C)both of the above

if you can do any of the above (or anything else that you think might be
helpful) e-mail me at TMBgirl@juno.com ASAP! =)
(oh yeah, please don't e-mail me if you're some sort of psychopatchic

Alma's in the middle of the "mitten" of Michigan, about three
hours from the Ohio border. The concert's students only as of right now,
but if you can't find another Alma College student, I can probably hook
you up with some tickets.
