Does someone have to define the meaning of the phrase "Shut Up" for you
abortion fanatics?

I believe it is a verb.. a doing word.. as in.. "I shut up. They shut up.
YOU SHUT UP!"

Go join the Raving Loony mailing list and leave this nice quiet list to
ponder chord progressions.

Hey, yeah, I was at the show, too, but get this...

I drove a couple hundred miles to go see them, and was praying to grab some
tickets before the show (yes, I know, not a smart move, but I couldn't afford
to get em through Ticketmaster). So, we get there early, and it's very sold
out. Very bummed, we walk back to our car behind the building, and start
talking to Rick, some guy we thought was just a normal roadie guy, and after a
bit, he hooks us up...we had to push the empty sound equipment cases into the
truck, and then got put on the VIP list...it was sooo awesome! Well, turns
out that this Rick is like one of the main guys...for all you who went to the
show, the black guy on stage right that They sang too. Afterwards he hooked
me up again with two setlists (the first time some bastard stole it right out
of my hands). Yeah, it was really really cool. We asked him if they needed
any help cleaning up afterwards, but the main crew had come back.
Oh yeah, I met Mike Shelley too...it was funny, he took a picture of me with
Rick, and Rick said, "Oh, by the way, this is Mike Shelley, he's the opening
act," it was great. So, I saw Mike again after the show, and we talked for a
long time. I asked if me and my kazoo could tour with them, and he was like,
"You pay your way, you're in the band." I so wish I had the money to do it,
that'd be so cool. Oh well, maybe next time :)

Think about it this way. You spend the majority of your life mastering an
instrument, practicing every day and putting your well being on the line, not
entirely sure that you will make it, but you do anyways. Then against all odds
you do become popular (not nessicarily very popular like some groups, but you
do have a pretty big fan following) You put your heart and soul into writing a
song and people like it. Then you take all your hard effort and go on a show
to share your gift in front of the nation to get some credit for what you have
accomplished, and they run words over your face, and cut you off before your
even done playing the song that you put your skill and time into creating. Now
would't that make you feel happy?

Yeah, but that was the second song they played and at least they played 2
songs on sin city unlike the other silly singer/actor they had on their,
and they were playing in front of a rather large crowd rather than in some
closed off studio.

this has to go in the FAQ sometime.

accordion sheet music (note the O's) would be the same as any other sheet
music. most TMBG songs have chord charts up at tmbg.org: go to
http://www.tmbg.org/band-info/songs/ and open up the albums to find the
songs you're wanting. if you're looking for other (non-tmbg) sheet music,
i recommend fakebooks. that way you play the melody with your right hand
and play the chords with your left and don't get bogged down in piano
notations. (eric: i'm assuming here that you know what you're doing with
your left hand; if you don't, let me know, and i can e-mail you some stuff
on that off-list.)

on a related note, does anybody know of classical music written for
accordions? (danielle?) if so, do you know how it was notated?

There is a Dr. Worm single that will or has been released in the
UK, look at GEMM.com. Has anyone picked this up yet, and what are the
track listings

Hey Mono Puffers!
I was spending the night at Bates college last sat. with my sister and
Rockapella, the band from Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago, was
having a free concert for Bates parents/family weekend. I saw a poster
for Rockapella and saw the bass singer was none other that Barry Carl
who sang Night Security. The show was great!!! Barry has the LOWEST
vioce in the world!!!!! He can sign like 5 times lower than he did on
Night Security!! WOW! Just thought I'd pass this along.

P.S. they had a guy making drum sounds with his mouth, it was
increadible.

-Chris, who rarely gets a chance to read his mail!

p.p.s. Charis(my sister at bates who has to much work to be a part of
the list anymore, but will be contributing this summer, i think) says
"HI"

p.p.p.s. If she were here she'd say "BYE"

I hope you all realize that this wasn't some personal thing against TMBG
where they ran out of time and squeezed them in at the last second. Sin
City does it that way with every band that comes on. They have their main
performance and then they get to close the show with yet another song as
the credits roll. Everybody from Smash Mouth to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was
playing while the credits rolled. And they all got cut off before the song
was done. It's just the way the show works. If you don't like it, fine, but
don't think it was unique to TMBG.

Yes yes I know it happens a lot, but I feel like its kinda disrespectful to
the artist. Its just not very nice. If someone puts in that much effort for
something at least let them finish it unless they are hurting others.

Let me start off this rebuttal with 2 points:
1) You are a fucking idiot. No more needs to be said, but I think I
might as well.
2) If you had READ the message and/or knew your ass from your elbow you'd
realize that I said that not all conservatives will share all of my
views, or something along those lines.

>and called every pro-choice person out there baby-killers. Wow. If I

see above #2 (and #1, just so you can be reminded)

>is prejudiced against certain groups and hates homosexuals, but I

Again I refer you to #1. And now to #2. I never said anything like
that. I don't think anybody should be given special rights because they
are different from anybody else. I am a white, heterosexual male. I
don't think I'm superior to a Hispanic homosexual female, but I don't
think she should be given scholarships to college, jobs, etc. just
because of that. I forget the term used for it, but those companies who
hire a certain percentage of Africans, Spanish, women, etc. are pathetic.
If I were to apply for a job at one of these countries and was more
qualified than a woman who applied for the same job, but they havn't
filled their quota of women yet, then she would get the job. And don't
sound shocked, because this happens. It's called reverse discrimination,
and it's in the news all the time. Most companies do this just to avoid
lawsuits.

I *know* that their have been sexists, racists, bigots, etc. in places of
authority, and that's wrong, but to go so far in the opposite direction
is also wrong.

>that every conservative out there is this ignorant. In fact, I know

I won't even bother with this one

>also doesn't believe in welfare. I bet that once these babies are

I am going to quote this line twice, because I have 2 responses to the 2
parts of the line.
Welfare I am not willing to get rid of it altogether, nor am I happy with
what it is now. It's an excuse to not have a job, or not TRY to support
oneself. People are popping out babies like pez to get a bigger welfare
check, and that is bad.

>also doesn't believe in welfare. I bet that once these babies are
>alive, this
>person wouldn't give a "rat's ass" about what happens to them. I bet
>that this
>person wouldn't give a "rat's ass" about whether or not this child is
>beaten,
>starved, abused, left in a dumpster... I know people who read the
>have ended up killing their babies. See, they aren't "babies" until
>they are
>born. People nowadays correctly call them fetuses.

ok, I feel the need to amend #1. You are a fucking idiot and should not
be allowed to talk, for fear that you may spew out some psychological
bullshit and act like you know what you're talking about, when you are
actually distorting things and making an ass out of yourself. That is
#1.

Give them whatever name you want. They are human lives. You *DO NOT
TAKE AN INNOCENT LIFE NO MATTER WHAT*.
Or are they not human? Nooo, they are a "fetus" until the pop out and
immediately transform into a baby. Think if your mother decided, before
your pointed little head emerged into the hospital room, that she decided
that you weren't good enough for this world. I think you might have a
problem with that.
An example that is given time and time again: What about cases of rape?
I bet that baby would like the chance to live too! Maybe it would be too
painful for the mother to keep him, in which case she should give him up
for adoption.

>Maybe if these teenagers would have had the option of abortion, they
>wouldn't
>have ended up killing their babies. See, they aren't "babies" until

ohmygod, #1.
Ok, out of the billions of babies that have entered this world by way of
a teen, how many have been killed. I would venture to say less than
.01%. That wins the idiotic arguement of the year award.

I was having a good day today too. It's always people like you who
demand to be laughed at who piss me off.

Yeah yeah yeah, here come the hostility messages again. He asked for it.

For harf's sake, when will you people learn?

If for no other reason, think of it this way -- for every useless, annoying,
inflammatory message you write, you cause me to post a message asking you to
stop! And who really wants to get that many messages from me? I sure don't!

These are some of the main reasons I wish the list was moderated.

But then none of my messages concerning harf would go through, so I guess it
would be best to live with the folks that have no self-control.

Harf,

Hello friends and enemies! I think that everyone in the entire world should
be named John. Every soul in the entire world... John with no middle or
last name. Every other child should be aborted and made to sign a waiver
that they were really Nazis and had no right to be here in the first place.
All surviving children should have their noses pierced and should be given a
life limit (picked through a random lottery) & when your time is up we shoot
you. No one should have fingernails and everyone must get stars tattooed on
their bellies! Every woman has to wear orange "tanga" cut panties with 3
equal sized circles on the butt and a purple size 36D bra with the left cup
having the areola area removed, regardless of the size of her breasts.
Every man must wear pink size 34 boxers with the phrase "I spit on fags"
written across the buttocks. All men are required to wear green felt berets
and suspenders. All women must wear taupe makeup and believe in alien
encounters. Everyone is required to believe in Elvis and that if something
isn't made in Scotland, it's crap!

What does this have to do with this list? Nothing... if I believe in these
things, you are NOT required to, but it doesn't belong on this list in the
first place. If you don't agree with me, come on down here and I'll take
you out back and kick you stupid butt.

They Might Be Potty-Mouthed...

Does anyone have a reasonable guess of why they've gotten so foul-mouthed in
the last couple of months?

Brother John Green Jello

Here you go. quite simply the "du hast" means "you have". literally.
Period.

it is quite possible though, that Rammstein is looking at the double
entendre (sp?) with the sound-alike "du haBt" (also "du hasst").
the complete line is "du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab [sic] nichts
gesagt." literally "you asked me, and I said nothing". that's it, end
of story. If anyone has the rest of the lyrics, what they say there is
still questionable to me, as I have not read them.

If you check out the most recent SPIN, they give interpretations to the
album's songs and translations of titles. If i remember right, the
song's meaning has to do with someone's cell phone exploding, or
somthing like the same.

I concur. In fact the only "questionable" things that went down at the show
were the following:

The opening act bitched at an audience member.
Someone was smoking ganja.

I'm trying to get a collection of misheard TMBG lyrics up. As a suggestion,
here's one I actually heard, from "Sensurround"

If mom had known she was expecting, she might have got me cigars....
:If mom had known she was expecting, she might have gone to see Jaws:

Feel free to pitch in.

Emar: Trying to get away from moral debates. And yeah, he was the guy at the
ATL show with the messages written on bank statements...
