Message-ID: All you say is very true, but than again, there are some people out there that are "casual" fans. You know, the people that hear one or more songs by Them and kinda 'dig' their sound. These people are more likely to spend $12 on a new album (that includes LTW or WUFTM stuff) than pay for an MP3, which might I add is kinda ludicrous. I admit, I'm proud to say that I love Them, but why people would spend money for something they can only hear while sitting in front of their computer (unless they want to spend big money to by a CD-W drive) boggles my mind. I did buy both LTW and WUFTM, but I'd MUCH rather have something with these songs on it other than my computer. I do however have the E-Music CD for WUFTM. I don't have the money for a CD-W, and I welcome Them to put out some of the songs from LTW on their new album. I'm done on my soap-box for now... How can you people sit back and look at the partail track list and say "heard that, thats old blah blah" well thats YOU. You cant sit here and talk for everyone (neither can I) you are the ones who seek out all this stuff because you want NEW... NOW. Alot of you downloaded stuff from Napster (DUH! there were millions and i mean millions of Napster users) some use unlimited (and still complain yet continue to subscribe) many jump at everything on twistid. You all scoff at Edith Head being on the next album SO WHAT? You heard it cause you were all over LTW months before its release, we know about these so far in advance its almost silly but I know plenty of people who like TMBG and have no idea what LTW is because they are causual fans who dont jump on the web daily and suck the web dry for all things giants but when I let them know of the new album they will buy it and they will hear Edith Head and even Older for the first time. The Johns cant ignore these fans! They get a fair share too! We are privledged cause were internet junkies who are obviuosly obsessed with TMBG. we let our e-mail inbox become filled with messages about them, we have tmbg websites locked in our favorites folder. Face it! its really our own faults we hear all this stuff before its out "officially". Im an unlimited subscriber and sometimes I think, i wont listen to stuff from No! I want to save it for the album release....BUT I JUST CANT! I listen to it then and I listen to it again and again and again. but silly me now ive pretty much heard all the new album...dangit. but I did it to myself. Were lucky to have such a nice band like TMBG to give us this opportunity. There are many, many bands out there and they are not as giving. And you STD haters? everyone band puts out a silly live album, no harm there. I know this argument can never end but MAN sit down and shut up people its just music for crying out loud. Its just a band (yes...i know you can turn that line around on me easy but its still true) Obviously we love tmbg so much.....we hate them sometimes. Its like a family. awwww. Even if you don't have a *single* friend on the internet who couldn't burn you a copy on a cd (hard to believe), as long as you paid for the files, someone on this mailing list or the newsgroup or web board would gladly do it for you for the cost of a blank cd and postage. Think about it, guys. If you're in a band that is having trouble securing a label, as TMBG was at the time, in need of a decent cash infusion, and an internet company approached you with an offer to sell some of your material and give you a whopping 50% of whatever they make from it, plus the rights to use those songs elsewhere if you choose to, would you turn it down? If not for emusic, we simply wouldn't have heard much of anything from TMBG until the new album comes out this year. This way, we've gotten to hear at least some things that won't be on any cds at the cost of hearing a lot of things in advance that will be. What's so bad about that? You think, "That's what-- AAAAAAAGH! On a more serious note, it just occured to me what is inherently wrong with TMBGU as opposed to a record(even an online one like LTW. TMBGU is a monthly thing. An album is something that can take forever to create. You mix the right songs(best: L) together and make them flow into each other well(best: JH), then whip up some sometimes thematic cover art(best: A18). When you have a deadline on every production, there is no guarantee of the best possible effort being put into the finished product. It's like people's criticism of a communistic system where everyone is paid the same amount. No incentive to work harder, right? Well, like that, there is no incentive to make a TMBGU package the most artistic it can be. The incentive is to get it out there on time. Granted, they have thousands of backlogged songs that they *can* use on there. But they want "new" material to be up on TMBGU. So, the problem again arises. Everybody who liked the Planet of the Apes songs will enjoy it.* But as for me, no dice. Polaris Dante: It's the kid in the helmet. Leonardo: Yes. I have a bunch of nice quality TMBG screen captures (TV stills) saved to my computer. (Like the Conan ones I sent here a while ago.) I made them all myself, because I have nothing better to do. I still make them, actually. A lot. I have over 100 now. I donated some to the Fans of Flans website, but there are a lot left -- for example, all the Linnell ones -- and I feel terrible for not sharing them. So I'm thinking of starting a TMBG screen capture website to put them on. It would only be my screen captures, since there're already enough sources for TMBG news, and concert photos, and stuff. Do any of you think this would be a stupid idea? If so, please tell me. I don't want to make a website that would just be a waste. Also, if you'd especially like for me to make the site, go ahead and let me know, so that way I'll probably get at least one response to this message. :) If the general consensus goes with my making the site, I'll post the URL here once it's finished. Hmmm . . . definitely some of them can be used as desktops, 'cause I'm using one that way right now. A few of them don't look very nice enlarged, though. But if you don't mind tiling or centering, they're still okay for that. I don't know how to do the screensaver thing. I never have a screensaver because they take up too much RAM, and my computer isn't very fast already. If you can make your own screensavers, they'll probably be fine. I just don't really know how they work, so I can't tell you about that, I'm sorry.
