Message-ID: I downloaded the ads someone linked a while ago and I was wondering if anyone knew when these spots ran. Were they shown a few weeks ago or a few months ago? Are they still on? Where were they on? Considering they used "Twisting", it makes sence these were made to promote their new Twisted Crust Pizza (with beadsticks on the crust). But by the look of the ads, it looks like it would have been used back before the pizza was announced. If so, then why did it take so long for it to be noticed and/or brought up here? Has there been anything of note posted on usegroups or msg boards or the like that the List doesn't know about yet? That's all I can think for now, on a semi-related note a friend of mine (actually: my worst enemy, but that's beside the point) who works at the local Pizza-Hut tells me that the local manager has been locked up for embezzlement. Over the past few years he's taken $15,000 or so. Now I ask you: Coincidence??? ~~blue_j James LeVeque ================== http://blue-j.livejournal.com ================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 May 2001 09:43:44 -0400 From: "Father Bingo" Subject: TMBG: WMBGT update : we're on hiatus Message-ID: <9f0950$2ge1$1@ussenterprise.ufp.org> Organization: Make Them Look Hey all... here's a quick WMBGT update. I know earlier this month I advertised that we'd be posting a preliminary track list and letting everyone vote on it via our web site. Well, I'm sad to say that very bad things have happened to Dan (the guy in charge of submissions) and his computer, so we are on hold until all is well. It may take a few weeks, it may take longer. Sorry for the delay. but, in the end, we'll still get #2 out in a much more timely fashion than #1; for anyone who remembers, it took something like 3 or 4 years to get the first disk done. We're still aiming for a release date near Mink Car's, we're just having some down time right now. The submission process is now officially, for real this time, closed. If you have a cover song you've recorded, hang on to it until we have our new web site up and running. We have plans... And speaking of those plans, we are searching for FTP space. Lots of FTP space. We're working on setting up an archive for all TMBG covers, and we'd like it to run similar to twistid.com. And as much as we love Adam for hosting the original album, we'd kind of like to have our own system. So, if anyone out there knows of any place where we can get lots of dedicated web space, please let us know.... anyone out there run a server that they could carve some space out for us? Thanks. -mike ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 May 2001 15:30:27 -0500 From: "anna ." Subject: NON-TMBG: Ambassadorship Message-ID: Apparently, I haven't been part of this wonderful list long enough to know that people were handing out ambassadorships (but no one really knows how long I've been here because I've been hiding in the shadows--ha!). I know question has an obvious answer, but does Kentucky have an ambassador? No one here is a TMBG fan, so I doubt that. And even if they were, they wouldn't proudly declare that they want to represent good ol' Kentuck and swallow their pride, as I am doing as we speak . . . *sigh* Please forgive my rambling. If no one has taken the position of Ambassador from Kentucky, I'll be glad to occupy it. Ondine (718) 387-6962 They Might Be Giants Dial-a-Song service. Just a regular call to Brooklyn. Subject: TMBG: The Green Album babbling Message-ID: Has anyone noticed (which I'm sure they have) the phrase in the cover of The Green Album, "torniamo all antico e sara un progresso"? What does this mean?? I translated it on BabbleFish.com and got, "we return all ancient and sara a progress." Either I can't comprehend anything, or the last three words don't make much sense. If anyone speaks Italian (or possibly Spanish, depending on what language the phrase is encoded in) and/or somehow already knows what it means, could they please post what it translates to in English? Many thanks. Ondine (718) 387-6962 They Might Be Giants Dial-a-Song service. Just a regular call to Brooklyn.
