I think this is very sad. Oh, it's true enough I know, but it's definitely
a shame. I don't know if those "Letters from J&J" are still up on the site,
but Linnell's piece on the House of Wax he visited in New Orleans still
throws me into fits of laughter. And the short article he wrote for an old
newsletter about his battle to claim all three seats on the plane was very
well written. Whereas Flansy's TMBG UnLtd e-mails rarely rise above the
level of "Hey yo, here we are in beautiful downtown Massachusetts ready to
serve you up a steaming hot fifteen minutes of EXCLUSIVE MP3s! Peace y'all."

He may be in a soda can, but he went flat a while back now.

i like to think that it's part of Linnell's big plan to be the adorable shy
one. Linnell seems definately more intruiging - we all want to get inside
his head. With Flansburgh, i think we all kinda feel like we know what's in
his head, and most of the time we do, because he tells us. They compliment
each other well, though, you have to admit. what one doesn't put out there,
the other one will.
>>And the short article he wrote for an old

yeah, sadly, i still have those old newsletters. i loved reading Linnell's
articles...he is indeed a funny man when he speaks...

There is a clock that's actually at 5th & 22nd. It's not as big or pretty, it's actually
one of four clocks on the southeast block of that intersection. It hangs from the side of
a jewelry store I'm pretty sure, which fits better with the line "sticking out of the side
of the building."

However, if that means it's just coincidence that the above photo shows 1:56, that's
weird.

In years past there has been discussion of TMBG fans making mix tapes of
spooky or creepy TMBG songs to listen to around Halloween. I have
searched my old mail and I can't find any of those emails.
Does anyone have playlists for their own or anyone else's mixes?

Thanks in advance.

AWESOME SHOW SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE ODEON!!!!

I went with few friends. OKGO opened, and my friend wrote messages to them on
the whiteboard, which was later confiscated. We talked to them after the show
along with...

MR. JOHN FLANSBURGH!

OKGA and Flans all signed stuff for me, and they tried to remember their gang
hand signals. I got my picture taken with all of them, but MY GODDAM ADVANTIX
CAMERA didn't load the film, so I lost it. But I did later get my picture
taken w/Dan Miller. Awesome.

Odeon security people are NAZIS. wouldn't let me record the concert.

Setlist & more coming soon...

I actually made such a list recently, while discussing with a few people that
instead of doing a Flood show on Halloween, they should do a Halloween set....
here's what we came up with (some aren't as creepy as others, and the list is
surely far from complete):

Become a Robot, Big Big Whoredom, Hell Hotel, Somebody's Body, Hide Away Folk
Family, 32 Footsteps, Hotel Detective, Absolutely Bill's Mood, Cage &
Aquarium, Where Your Eyes Don't Go, You'll Miss Me, Dead, Whistling in the
Dark, Dig My Grave, My Evil Twin, Spider, Hall of Heads, Turn Around, Ondine,
She Was a Hotel Detective, Why Must I Be Sad, Dirt Bike, A Self Called
Nowhere, Meet James Ensor, Window, Stomp Box, Exquisite Dead Guy, Your Own
Worst Enemy, Dr. Evil, Cyclops Rock, I've Got a Fang, Hopeless Bleak Despair,
Older, Mink Car, She Thinks She's Edith Head, Working Undercover for the Man,
Frankenstein

I've seen some pretty good interviews with JUST Linnell. It just seems
like, when the two Johns are together. Linnell leaves most of the talking
to Flans.

Wouldn't it make more sense to compare Linnell's letters to Flans's letters?
I'm sure that, if Linnell were to write Unlimited e-mails, they wouldn't
be any more interesting than the ones from Flans. It's just that Flans does
most of the public relations stuff, because he's better at it. But it's
silly to compare promotional messages to things written for the purpose of
entertainment (such as those letters).

A few of the Fingertips might work. I'm thinking along the lines of "Who is
that standing out the window?", "I walk along darkened corridors," "Who's
knocking on the wall?", and "mysterious whisper."

And don't forget about Careless Santa!

ooooh, good idea! and also, it's a Mono Puff song, and not really halloween
related, but I think Careless Santa might work, too...
